Default 1998 Ford Ranger XLT Texas Edition Flairside 4-cyl 5-spd

150 pictures in an album at: http://www.fototime.com/inv/8E3C4EB3A23207F

This is 4-cylinder 5-speed regular cab long bed (6.5 foot) truck with the flairside aka stepside bed finished in Oxford White with a grey cloth interior. March 2019 Virginia safety inspection and emissions good to March 2020. It's hard to find XLT models with this powertrain as most were sold in XL trim with vinyl seats, rubber floors, steel wheels with hubcaps, painted bumpers and black grille. First year of the third generation redesign with improvements over the previous years models include a longer wheelbase for increased interior room on the regular cabs, larger and more powerful 2.5L 4 cylinder engine, rack and pinion steering, wishbone front suspension and a boxed frame in the front. After 1998, the styling of the Ranger didn't change too much so that this example doesn't look much different from a late model 2012.

This Ranger is a well equipped XLT model as well as a Texas Edition for some extra flair. Some of the features and equipment include:

Air conditioning
Premium cloth upholstery
“Texas Edition” embroidered logo in seat backs
60/40 split bench seat for 3 person seating
Fold-down center armrest with storage compartment
Full carpeting
Gauge package for coolant temperature, oil pressure, volts
Sliding rear window
Behind the seat storage
Chrome grille
Chrome front bumper
Chrome rear step bumper
Bright machine finish aluminum wheels
Rust-proof fiberglass bed sides with side steps
Second generation airbags
Anti-Lock brakes

This truck looks and runs great and has not a single dent on it. Paint is nice and shiny with just the normal amount of nicks and scratches for a 20 year old truck, and the chrome is beautiful. Windshield has a few chips but still passed inspection and the sliding back window rattles at certain speeds. Interior could use a bit more cleaning. Engine runs strong and the transmission shifts smooth with a tight clutch. Every few months I get a Check Engine Light for code P0171 "lean condition" which usually means the engine is sucking in unmetered air. Cause is probably a loose or cracked vacuum or air hose. I replaced the suspects but there might be others still there but it passed emissions after resetting the CEL. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping, and the suspension is tight. The radio doesn’t work but they are $20 from the junkyard. The A/C blows ice cold. The truck has been fully serviced with over $3,000 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original Motorcraft or other name brand parts including:

Mobil 1 oil change
Motorcraft oil filter
Motorcraft air filter
Motorcraft fuel filter
Throttle body and MAF sensor cleaning
Standard EGR pipe
Standard PCV valve
Motorcraft Platinum spark plugs
Motorcraft spark plug wire set
Formula coil packs
Gates timing belt kit
Motorcraft serpentine belt
Gates upper and lower radiator hoses
Motorcraft Gold coolant change and flush with distilled water
Victor Reinz intake and exhaust manifold gasket sets
Walker catalytic converter
Walker midpipe
Walker muffler
Walker tailpipe
Denso oxygen sensor
Clutch replaced around 215,000 miles
Ball joints replaced around 241,000 miles
Universal joints replaced around 247,000 miles
Centric Ceramic front brake pads
Cardone front brake calipers
Recent front rotors
Centric left front brake hose
Centric rear brake shoes
Carlson brake hardware kit
Centric rear wheel cylinders
Recent rear brake drums
Dorman left and right parking brake cables
Valvoline DOT4 Brake fluid change
Front shock absorbers replaced around 247,000 miles
Rear shock absorbers replaced around 247,000 miles
Motorcraft Mercon V transmission fluid change
Dorman blower motor resistor and connector
Ford shift knob
Ford pedal pads
Ford tow hitch cap

Truck has a factory Ford bedliner by Duraliner and a Hidden Hitch 2 inch receiver. Comes with all the books and both factory keys. It's a one owner vehicle with a clean Carfax. Priced at $3,500. Located in the Washington DC area and could deliver at low cost. Might consider a partial trade for up to about half the price. Let me know the details of your vehicle and how much you want for it. Yes, you can find these trucks for $2500, $2000 or even $1500, but if it costs you another $2000 or $3000 after getting it home to put it in good condition, it's no bargain. And don’t let the miles worry you. This engine is one of Ford’s most durable and will run much longer than the Duratech twin cam engine they started using in 2001. My 1990 Ranger with the same powertrain was running great when I sold it last year with 430,000 miles. atikovi@email.com

How hard do you think will be to remove that Texas edition stitching? Are the seats the only place that the Texas edition logo is located?

Why would you want to remove it? It's the coolest part of the truck. Also on the tailgate.

I have a feeling that your intentions for asking that question was as a rhetorical question, and you did not wish for a legitimate response.
I feel like if I were to answer that question honestly I would be subjectively berated for it. So I will decline to answer.

However, thank you for answering my questions on the locations of the badges.

Not sure what you're trying to say, but would be willing to sell just the seats or seat covers and tail gate emblem.
