Default Rear axle swap

Hey all. So currently I own a 4x4 Ranger Standard cab 3.0 auto on a 7.5" rear axle with 3.73 gears.

My plan is to get ahold of an Explorer 8.8 rear with a 4.10 limited slip and swap it in. Also I would like to use the explorer leafs

A few questions I was unable to find direct answers to:

Will the 31 spline driveshaft from the explorer work for the ranger or will I need to get a Ranger 31 spline? (My current 7.5 has a 28 spline as you all know)

From the Dana 35 up front- is this also LS? Should I try and get this ring and pinion or should I just buy a new one?

After properly stripping the old shock mounts off where should I get new ones to weld on, and how will I know where they go?

Will my Ranger shocks work with the explorer setup with the explorer leafs?

If anybody could find me a direct thread to somebody who did this swap I'd be thankful (the search feature on my mobile app keeps coming up with nothing found)

Thanks all and please include any helpful information! I've done alot of research and know a decent amount but I am no fabber and wanna get all my info straight before I take a step foreword.

Default Re: Rear axle swap

The 28 and 31 Spline count refers to the axle shafts. and nothing to do with the driveshaft. It is a good idea to get the u-joint flange for the 8.8 as ive seen older 7.5s have a slightly smaller bolt patteren for the flange.

as for the front end it would be alot less work to swap a whole new unit from the donor vehicle

Okay thanks! So as far as the driveshaft entering the housing their is nothing I need to do besides what you suggested with the incoming flange
