Mini-shock on front driver's side
Was looking up under the truck today and noticed this mini shock absorber looking thing is no longer bolted down at the bottom. I'm going to get a new bolt and reattach it, but I'm curious as to what it is.
For reference, this is right behind the driver's side front wheel, you have to lift up the rubber inner fender flap to see it.

It's not aftermarket. It's almost like a motor dampener. My buddy Austin has this same thing on his 98 4.0L.

It is a motor damper. I think Ford stopped using those on the 4.0 SOHC. Every 4.0 OHV I have ever owned or seen has had one.
