Default Lower Ball joints on my 4WD...MOOG?

I need to replace my lower front ball joints on my 2004 Ford Ranger 4.0 4wd XLT ext 2 door cab (85,000 miles). I have a question on which part and part number to use. I keep hearing about MOOG ball joints.

I found this part # MOOG Part # K80771 and am wondering if that is the CORRECT one?

I'm also seeing this for a part number>>> Product ID: MOOG-K8695T

Is Rock Auto the bast place to purchase them?

Thanks in advance!

Scott

Your best bet is to go to your local auto parts store. Make sure to get the American made ball joints. Any parts you buy should be American made, they cost more but it's well worth the price. They fit better and last longer and yes moog is one of the best. Don't need no part number at the auto parts store but you can get the numbers from them.

the 8695t is the number that i used on my 4wd. i think the k80771 number i slightly oversized, if your lowers have been replaced multiple times, this would provide a better fit for the stretched hole in the lca. Dont quote me on that though haha.

I replaced my whole front end with moog parts back in september, and i have been having problems with them from the beginning. I had a tie rod go out in a matter of months, along with wandering at high speeds, a rough ride and memory steer. Took it to two independent mechanics, who both said they have been having problems with moog parts recently, especially on the bigger trucks like the superdutys. When i told the mechanic i had been having problems with my front end he said "let me guess, you used moog right??"

In any case, I wouldnt discount moog just yet. They are supposed to be tough as nails, and one of the only parts still made in the USA. Im thinking they had a bad batch of parts, as its only recently that ive heard negative things about them.

My truck has settled down some, but it still pulls to the right like crazy. Im buying some Spicer upper control arms , seeing if that solves my issue.

just my two cents,

I bought all my parts from Rock Auto and have never had a problem with them. Rock auto sells the same parts as part stores do.
