belltech 6400
So, I went to put my belltechs on my truck, And I ran into a problem, I could not get the bolt out of the top of the old shackle. I have completely unscrewed it, but I can not get it out, its rusted in, and under tension.
Now, I have read up on how to do this, but I was hoping I could get some advice/tips from those who have done this, I really need help to get this old bolt out because I need to drive to work tomorrow afternoon.

Re: belltech 6400
Ok, their is about 1/4 of the bolt sticking out. I was thinking, what if I came in from the front of the shackle with an angle grinder, and ground out the exposed part of the bolt, (in the middle of the shackle). Would that work?

Re: belltech 6400
Did you cut the whole shackle? Or just the exposed bolt? And how long did it take, (cut time). I have like 2 hours of free time sunday. If I cant get it done then, I have to drive around for a whole week with the top bolt 1/4 of the way out and the bottem bolt with no nut.
I also have a trailer hitch, do I need to remove it?

I just stuck the blade between the shackle and the bushing and went to town. It was about an hour of cutting and pounding. I didn't care about the bushings because I had new ones. I have a trailer hitch and I left it on. However it's much easier without it and very easy without the bed off

Re: belltech 6400
So, I do I need new bushings? and where would I get them? I know this sounds dumb but I got to learn some how.

If you can manage not ruining them then you don't. However it's very hard to do that so Ya get some new bushings. I got mine from rock auto. They have a metal outer sleeve so you take some grease and slide then in the leaf spring eye where the old one is

I read the post wrong. I had issues with the bottom bolt that goes through the leafspring eye. The top is just a bolt that goes through the shackle. So take a saw-zaw or other cutting wheel and slice the bolt. The new shackle will have a bushing in it
