I have a 2006 ford ranger and was wondering if drop shackles are a good idea and what can I do with the front everyone tells me to cut my springs and I dont want to unless I had to

How low are you trying to go? shackles will get you a few inches lower in the rear. A flip kit is also a good choice though its 4-5" drop IIRC. Cutting a little off the spring for a couple inches isn't that bad just don't cut too much off. There's plenty of good kits already out there for coil sprung rangers if you look.
