Default Thump noise when making hard left 91 Ranger 2wd

I drive a 1991 Ranger with the 3.0 Vulcan and 2wd. I live up a mountain road with sharp turns so I hear this sound daily and Im wondering if anybody knows what it is.....?

Every time I make a hard left I hear a thump sound like something heavy shifting over. It doesn't seem to affect anything and I do not feel anything in the wheel. Everything seems to check out fine underneath (to my eyes at least) and it rides smooth. The truck only has 54,000 original on it and everything is in spectacular shape.

Its definitely not a wheel bearing. It almost just sound like one of the beams shifting but like I said its only on a hard left. Bearing sounds are very different.

they very same thing would happen to me. a hard left would 'thump' - it was the sound of the passenger upper control arm moving. the camber bushing/bolts were not installed correctly so that there was about an inch of play. then it would 'thump' back in during a hard right.

----------

oh yeah, the fix was to reinstall the bolts so that the camber was fixed in place.

Good to know somebody else encountered this. I'm going to try and see if mine are installed right during the day tomorrow.

I was not able to spot any loose joints but what I believe to be the camber bushings are definitely worn out. That doesn't seem significant enough to cause this thump.

I imagine you would need a proper jack and stands for that job yeah? And what is a good place to order parts for my 91?

sorry, haha! i haven't been on since before t-giving ...

yeah, i usually need two jack stands and random wood and/or cinder blocks, plus my floor jack (and tools for the job)

most people absolutely love rockauto.com, they seem to be the cheapest AND they supply Moog suspension parts (IMO the best brand)
