2001 Ranger 2WD-to-4WD Front Set Up Swap
2001 Ranger XLT Extended Cab 2WD 3.0L Auto...
I want to get rid of the wheel-bearing-in-rotor setup. This past week I replaced both front hubs on a 2004 4WD Ranger (sealed hub and bearing setup) at work (I work at a Ford Dealer here in Richmond), and decided I want that setup on my truck to avoid having to constantly repack my bearings to get rid of the inherent "play" that goes with this setup.
My truck has coil springs, and I want to retain these; I plan to lower the truck 2-3" in future. From looking at my truck, this customers truck, and the workshop manual for a 2001 Ranger, it looks like all I'd need to swap would be spindles, hubs, and rotors. Looks like I'd have to retain the lower control arms for the coil spring perches.
Looking for anyone to shed some light on what is involved in putting the sealed hub and bearing setup from a 4wd truck onto a 2wd truck.
Thanks in advance.
