tbar wear is what it's called. The bolts don't just back out.

Your truck is guaranteed to have F bars on it....the weakest of them all. Upgrade to B-bars and this will cure the heavy sag issues and will allow you to keep more of the "lift" you got.

X-cabs, I suggest #1 bars.

do all rangers come with f bars or is there a way to tell which bars your specific truck might have?

The torsion bar stiffness rating is like so:

<-higher lower->

1 2 B D E F K L

The FX4's and MOST other recent 4.0L 4x4 supercabs have the stiffest Ranger/Explorer bars which are #1.

Look on your driver door jamb label under SPG. The first character under SPG is the front torsion bar code.

Si. Except I think it's SPR. Mine's SPR on the door sticker. I'll also add...

Some are 4 digit. BBKK 11CC 11KK etc... Some are 2 digit: BK 1C 1K

Like Tom said, first set or first charater is the front spring rate. Second set or second character is rear spring. As far as I know, Torsion bar trucks got K or C leaves, C leaves being the strongest, highest spring rate...Usually standard on trailer hitch optioned trucks.

My truck stock was BBKK. '01 4.0 4dr 4x4. It's now 11kk.

New torsion bars used to be only about $60 per side from Ford....but reports in recent months say they're double that now. You can't just walk up to the counter and say "give me #1 bars".....they're VIN# based. So if you give them your vin #, you'll get whatever your truck came with. You've gotta find a truck with the bars that you want, and tell them THAT VIN#. OR.....hit up junkyards for low mile Expos and newer Rangers.

OP, the same things happen to t-bars when maxed out. faster wear on the bar, sagging is imenent, off-camber alignment. Going to higher grade bars will not sag as much. B bars would be nice on a reg cab...I think #1's would be too rough on a light truck like yours, but some have ran 'em in reg cabs and they like it.

Oh...btw...there's NO COILS to wear out. The torsion bar IS your suspension...what holds your truck in the air.
