more travel in my suspension
I have a 2001 xlt off road with 4wd. What set up should I go with to gain more travel, more importantly in the front end, than the rear end..

Solid axle swap, other than that you just have to deal with it. Ifs isn't going to move much.

Re: more travel in my suspension
IFS moves more if you know where to look. dixon brothers racing ( www.dixonbrosracing.com) makes a 4x4 long travel kit, but it's a bit spendy and it's IMPOSSIBLE to get axles from him (guys have paid for them and been waiting a year). BTF fabrication ( www.btf-fab.com) is in the process of making a 4x4 ranger kit, just need to work out a few more details on it. other than that, not much since you're 4x4 unless you do a solid axle.

I always figured 4x4 would have more travel than 4x2, due to the whole off road thing. Hmm....
How would a 2WD gain more front travel? Just curious.

the 4x4 have CV axles to deal with. there's only so far they can be angled before problems arise.

Re: more travel in my suspension
2wd is easier than 4x4, unless you have TTB up front. then, 2 or 4wd doesn't really matter.
and if you're a baller, you can get a 930 inner cv, machine an adapter for that to the stock diff, and then get custom axles made. that's what dixon bro's does for their 4x4 long travel kit.

I know the FX4's get lift blocks in the rear, and #1 Bars in front.

Re: more travel in my suspension
that doesn't mean they have more suspension travel, it means they're lifted. travel is the # (inches, feet) the wheel moves from fully extended to fully compressed. seeing as the fx4 is the same components as an edge, i'm gonna guess they get the same travel (right around 9").
