Rack and pinion problem?
Hey y'all. Alright I got into a wreck the other day in my 98 ranger xlt. Replaced everything that needed replacing then found a very decent 7" crack in my rack. Replaced the rack and pinion assembly, pretty much did an entire power steering fluid flush, bled the lines and started up the truck. Truck was on jack stands. Had no problems starting it up, ran good, until I turned the steering wheel. As soon as I turned the steering wheel it started jerking left and right really really fast and looks possessed and I almost got my thumbs broken. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen this happen or know why it would be doing this at all?? So far no one else I've talked to has ever even heard of that happenning. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm at a total loss y'all. Thanks!!

Re: Rack and pinion problem?
From what I understand, you'll need to turn the wheel lock to lock several times to get all the air out. You should be fine after that.

Re: Rack and pinion problem?
x2 what cub said, it sounds like you have air in the line. don't put your thumbs inside the spokes of the wheel and turn it lock to lock a few times, make sure to add fluid to keep it from getting low.
