Default To keep my truck or not? that is the question

Alright guys so i've been pondering this for a decent bit. I've put close to 2k in my truck for issues in the last 4 months or so, and today i found my rear shock detached from the frame. It literally ripped a chunk of the frame off. Im assuming it will have to be welded back. I've put about 2k worth of accessories and mods in the truck in the last year or so. But with these issues that just seem to keep on coming, I'm debating getting rid of the truck. I wanted it to last me til the end of college but I'm only a freshman. I must say i absolutely love my truck, i really do, but the annoyances are starting to build up.

bottom line, should i get rid of it for something newer and cut my losses with money, or chance the truck and hold on to it, hoping the crap will stop happening to it.

keep it, it doesnt make sense to start from scratch with a new vehicle just because your truck is showing its age. You have a lot of money invested in it that you wont get back by trading up.

Why trade for a ram or Chevy? I have always have better luck with Ford. I say keep the truck unless you find a really nice used car or somethin

I would keep it as well. I sold a car a few years back that I had wished I had kept. Plus if you already have 2k of mods in it that's not too bad to me. Plus you said you loved it.

As much as I'd love to be whipping around in a ram I can't part ways with my ranger..... If you can afford maybe buy a cheap beater ricer mobile which would save ur truck from abuse alittle bit and by abuse I mean normal wear and tear but unfortunately these vehicles aren't made to last forever so if it's becoming a money pit in ur eyes maybe it's better to get rid of it

take it somewhere will you can put it on a lift and really inspect the frame. The whole frame go over it really good to see if it is rusting so bad that it might have a problem somewhere else. If it looks ok then keep it. If it looks like there are problems on the horizon then fix it and sell it. take off any mods you can unless you think you will get your money out of it and then look for a used one with low miles.

frame problems can be costly and there needs to be enough metal left to get a good weld. the heat from welding a frame can also twist it and cause other problems.

keep it. whats your plans, sell it and buy another used vehicle....? You may have to drop a new tranny or something in it. This is the gamble with used vehicles. At this point, just fix it and keep it.

Any welding shop can weld in a plate of steel on to the frame. Probably fairly cheap. Then, go to autozone and buy the shock replacement studs ($5) and either drill a hole in the new steel, bolt on. Or have the welding shop just weld it on there.
