I have towed with and without a front sway and I could tell the difference, but it was not bad it still felt safe and cornered just fine.

yea but i don't want it to be worse. its bad enough now with atvs, mowers and 16 ft trailers.

Re: how to remove sway bar
You know you can disconnect it and try it out. Pull one end link off on the front and see if its the end of the world for you. I think if you are already having issues you probably have the weak leafs in the back and that's what is letting you down not a sway bar. You could fix the overall problem rebuilding the pack or ordering new leafs...

Re: how to remove sway bar
If your towing alot you can put explorer leafs in. Their stronger and are way more stable. I did this to mine and it upped the load capacity a ton! It used to sag with just a little chevy 350 in the back. Now it dosnt move an inch with the same motor. I love it

Re: how to remove sway bar
if your looking to take it out entirely its those bolts in the pic that have the rubber bushing and the sway bar to the frame. then on the lower a-arms you have one solid long bolt that runs from the swaybar, it has 2 little rubber bushings a washer on each end then a tube, then another set of bushings n washers bolting it to the lower a-arm on each end. take all of those off and the swaybar will come out

Re: how to remove sway bar
Do not remove your sway bars if you ever do any towing or lots of highway driving because they really do help to prevent a rollover and when towing you need all the stability you can get because Rangers are not designed to be tow vehicles. PS I heard that clunk again this morning

Re: how to remove sway bar
So I have read about this on a Tacoma forum and people SWEAR its the WORSTE thing ever and will kill you the second you do it, then I come here and it's not such a bad idea. Are they built that different? Anyways. I have thought about this and want to know, I replaced my shocks and coils with MUCH stiffer ones will this help with the body roll in corners? I do like 80% city driving. Ive also heard about quick disconnects. Anyone have a link to a "How-To"? Thanks. And would my '97 RWD have rear bars? I haven't seen anything that resembles them.
Ps sorry for reviving such an old thread.

Removing mine was one of the best decisions I made. I have stiffer coils and never removed it prior to the Camburg coil install but as is I like it a lot better then with just spindles and sway bar attached. I still corner fairly fast and it feels fine.... yes more body roll but I like it that way.

Cool. I may end up doing this. And it looks easy so if I don't like it ill throw it back on. If I take it off and put it on will I need an alignment or anything like that?
