Ball Joints
Hey guys, I'm going to be doing the ball joints, camber bushings, and a leveling kit, but would like a hand with it since I've never done ball joints before. I'm close to Hazleton, PA and will provide pizza for lunch/dinner. I don't have a date set yet, but it should be sometime this month.

Re: Ball Joints
Sweet, just let me know what brew you like the best and I'll grab a case. Ball joints should be in by Fri since one set is already in shipping.

Re: Ball Joints
ball joints are easy. as long as you have a ball joint press (rent one from the local auto parts store), you can get them all done by yourself. not that hard to mess it up, i found a video on youtube from partsourcedirectoyou.com i think it was that showed how to do it. took me 10 minutes per side.

Re: Ball Joints
^ likewise, just a heads up on the ball joints though, they look like they are ORIGINAL from '93 so they may be a bitch to get out. I've been spraying everything with pb for the past week hopefully it will loosen it up a little.

Re: Ball Joints
shit doing ball joints was harder to do then a spindle lift with new bearings and greasing them up. the uppers are the hard part since there a hole piece. The bolts for the alinement washers are blocked by the brake line and the shock housing. It took me for ever to get it out then to line it back up. The lowers were a piece of cake hammer the old ones out then press in the new ones from a kit form kragen. Renting them is 119.00 back you get it all back after you return it. if it wasn't for my brother to help me it would of been a hole day job. And i got my ball joints threw napa because the uppers have replaceable ball joints. No other brand out there any more does this. mob used to but couldn't find any. So when these china ones go ill just press in a new american mog ones and be set. And make sure to get ball joints with zerk fittings. Never should have to replace ball joints if you keep those lubed up.

Re: Ball Joints
Mine's a 93 so they aren't the whole control arm, just the pressed in ball joints. I have the general idea how to do it, but would like a hand with someone that's already done them on a Gen3.

Re: Ball Joints
They're so easy on our trucks. And dont get the balljoint press....too much of a hassle. Use a BFH and a large socket to install/remove them. 10x easier. As for camber bushings, as long as they dont move (mark them with a chisel before you start) you wont need an alignment. One thing you might need is the hub seal on the back of the rotor....they sometimes get ruined.
If you were closer I'd be all over it to help you dude.

Re: Ball Joints
I'm doing the lower ball joints on my 99 4x4 for the first time. Can anyone give me some advice on the removal of the cv axle...i'm having trouble with the snap ring inside the hub. Any help would be much appreciated.
