Default Is it safe to or can you even

Take out the blocks on the back of your truck?

I have an 03 EDGE. You know, those blocks. *I think they're between the axle and the frame... I'm too lazy to go outside and check*

Is it safe? Or can you even take them out to lower the back a tad?

Some people just pull the blocks and you might get away with it if you never haul anything in the bed and never go off road. Still it is not right. If the suspension ever bottoms, it can damage the shocks or mounts. That's why Ford installs shorter shocks on the 2WD XL/XLT which don't have factory blocks.

Yes, you need shorter U-bolts without the blocks. 2WD XL/XLT U-bolts are the right size for the Edge without blocks.

Would the 2WD XL/XLT shocks then be a perfect fit for a Ranger Edge without blocks?

Yes. Order them for the same year 2WD XL/XLT to be sure.

My brothers '01 XL 2wd didn't have any blocks between the axle housing and the leafs....bumpstop was in the same spot spot directly under the frame rail above the housing just to the inside of the spring plate. Come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing a 2wd coilspring 98+ ranger that had a block.

Factory thought it was fine on lessor grade trucks, so go for it.

That's my main goal - a smoother ride.

I've never driven a Ranger w/o a front sway bar but just thought I'd ask and see what y'all thought.
