Default suspention opinions

I have a 88 super cab xlt I bought for 700$ after some engine work its a great work horse. its rusted and dented and beat up but reliable for the most part.
The most I have hauled is 2200 lbs weighted at the scrap yard. but 1200 is about the regular. I haul almost everyday. im thinking of air bag add ins and a helper spring. cost about 400 diy. the truck isn't worth putting a bunch of money into so im iffy. what do y'all think?

----------

oh yeah its a 2.9l V6. with a total of 5 pieces on the leaf springs

Load Leveler coilover shocks are around $90 each at Autozone. They didn't show an application for the Ranger in the book so I took the old shock in and matched it up with some coilovers pulled from the shelf. Takes a patient and helpful parts counter person. I think they were Red Ryder shocks... unfortunately my Honey has the receipt somewhere or I'd give you a part number. I'll ask her to find it...

Ok, couldn't find the receipt so I called Autozone and the guy looked up my purchases. The coilover shocks are actually Gabriels, and they were only $110 for the PAIR.

Part #43167 - dunno if that's a Gabriel # or an Autozone #.

They fit our 2000 B3000 perfect and beefed up the load capacity, raised the rear about 1" and reduced load sag a LOT. A little stiff when empty but a nice ride with a load on.

Hope this helps...
