I have had the same Shocks on my Truck since i got it back in 2008 so just wondering/curious how long they typically last.

Stock - 20 to 30k? if used for mostly street driving. Just my 2 cents.

As stated before, if they leak, change them. Their main purpose is to keep your tires on the ground by suppressing rebound of tires when hitting a bump. Typically they work until they leak fluid and then they can't do the job anymore.

They do get worn and if you are one of the types of people who wait until they completely fail you are one of the types of people who have unevenly worn tires, have grown used to shitty ride quality beyond the ability to tell anymore, and must love body roll - primarily side to side while driving in a straight line.

Change your shocks at 40k to keep them fresh.

----------

Ps- just priced the oem equivalent of stock shocks in Monroe's line and it is right at $90 for all 4 shocks. That's two tanks of gas. Tires are $400 or better set and they are just a small piece of the truck part's that suffer as a result of faulty shocks. Makes no sense why you'd put two tanks of gas in, but not do maintenance that would save other expensive thing on the truck.

It really depends on what you do with the vehicle.

For example, the Shocks on my 3/4 ton SAS F150 last a little under a year due to major offroading (BDS Nitrogen charged shocks).

But if you're just street driving on smooth roads, typically 15-20K.

It does depend on the vehicle and the quality of the shock. I've seen shocks last 200,000 miles and others only say 30,000 miles. The best thing to do is just check them occasionally for leaks and press down on the corners of the vehicle. If the vehicle rebounds more than once after pressing down on the corner, they need replaced.

On my truck-about two years. But not because they're worn out, I just been trying to get a set that rides decently with my cranked 1-codes. I put Edelbrock AIS's on, then switched to Rancho RS5000s, now I have Rancho RS9000s. So far, so good with the 9000s.

I usually get about 50k+ using the RMX Monotubes. Not too expensive either.

NO thats not how you check shocks....get the vehicle bouncing up and down and let go, if it bounces more than THREE times, they fail..I would know...Im a licensed vehicle inspector

"I've seen shocks last 200,000 miles"
Really?
They'll hang on the car that long but they won't be effective.
They'll last 200 years in a landfill but that doesn't mean they will work if you mount them.
