Default 2000 Ranger Handling

My 2000 Ranger 3.0L 6cyl. truck handles like a off the road vehicle. I would like to tame the beast and get a smoother ride . I drive mainly on city streets but any bump in the road causes really jerky reaction with a rolling side to side whipping action which is too much for my[/B] [/U]ailing frame. is there any modification designer for a softer more forgiving ride? my mechanic says my shocks are OK, and no springs are broken. I would appreciate any suggestions.

if your shocks are stock you might wanna try a softer shock, the stock shocks are designed to ride soft with weight in the bed, so you could put like 200-300# in the bed and it will be a smoother ride. softer shocks are the best way to go about changing the ride characterisics, as for roll, is your sway bar connected? if it is, then you may stop more roll by adding a rear sway bar, but pretty much the ranger will roll because it is really narrow and tall for its width

how-to submission? okay...

Anyway, first, what I'd look into is is your suspension components worn down? Ball joints, tirerod ends, shocks, etc. Figure those things out first, then go from there. Single best mods you can do to an other wise stock vehicle: shocks and tires. On yours you can put on a 4x4 sway bar which is a bigger anti-roll bar, you can put on a broncoII rear sway bar if you've not got one now. My little brother has a 4/5 drop on his '01, bigger sway bars front and rear, and big ass brakes...that sucker handles like it's on rails! SOOOOO fun to drive.

Any suggestion for a softer shock?
