Question Shortcut or no?

Hey frf community! Loving the forums I've done ton's of work to my new little tank since dec with the help of the forums. Thanks I finally have a question.
My p/s lower ball joint is shot and i wondered if i could press it out without removing the hub assembly.like just keep the half shaft in tact and unhook caliperand tr end and just move over a couple inches to get the press in there.
I have reearched for hours and am stumped,i dont see why removing the hub is necessary? I honestly have no idea hoow to remove the pvhubs. :/
Also if i change just the d/s upper control arm will an alignment be necessary?
Thanks in advance

if you can move everything around enough to get the press in there without removing the hub, go for it. you might find it easier to remove your brake caliper from the spindle first, then remove the knuckle from the lower arm and finding a way to push it out of the way.

as for the upper arm, it should be as easy as unbolting the new one and putting the new one on. from the factory, you should have alignment cams that only let you run the bolts for the upper arm mounts in one place. just take note of how they're installed before you remove them, putting them on the wrong way will make your alignment off.

well after a month and a half i did the lower BJ today on the pass. side. and believe it or not it CAN be changed without removing the cv shaft and hub. i dont know how much i'd recommend this method but it does work. remove brake caliper(you dont need to remove caliper brckt or rotor) remove sway bar end link. remove outer tie rod from knuckle. remove upper balljoint pinch bolt. i really extended the cv boots in order to get the lover ball joint stud out but no harm done.took about 2 hrs start to finish
