Default Need to level the back. Add-a-leaf?

Many many years ago, I cranked the t-bars to level the front end out. Then a few years ago, I put this cap on the back of the truck, so now the ass end sags and the front end is jacked up. I do not want to lower the front end, I'd rather raise the ass end to be level. I suppose an add-a-leaf or some kind of block is the way to do this? Suggestions? And I really need to know what is involved to do the work as far as process and tools. My resources are limited here so I'd have to go to a friends place to do it.

options:
bigger tires in the back lmao
shackles

blocks

shackles are easy and so are add a leafs
blocks are not usually recomended

Ok, let me remind everyone of something here. If it doesn't have electrons or flames, I don't know shit about it. WTF is a shackle?

For the AAL, do you just loosen the U-Bolts and shove it in?

i would do an add a leaf. basicly you support the rear axle, remove u bolts, put the new leaf in between the leaf pack and re- attach the u bolts

shakcles are what hold the leaf spring, u get longer ones to lower it (hence lifting it up) its the joint that holds the leaf spring to the truck

AAL is in order. I would recommend the full lenght one tho. The one I got was for a jeep cherokee/wrangler 97-02. Its the same width as the ranger. You can buy new center pin bolts from advance auto or any auto store, there like $6 for a pair. Real easy. support the truck by the frame, unbolt the U bolts. Cut the center pin. There is a clamp type piece on the rear of the spring pack that will help hold it all together. Once the bolt is out the leafs will relax. Slide in your new leaf. run the center pin bolt up thru the holes thread side up. Install nut. As you tighten it up the springs may slide around a fuzz, just grab them and "feel" them back in align. Once the bolt is tight, re-assembled and thats it.

I would say that aal is easy than a shackle, simply becuase getting the bolts out of the spring and the upper mount can be a PITA! Besides, the aal will give you the lift and more payload.

I dont think you could go wrong with these:

I have the aal on my truck, it will take you about 1:30 to 2 hours depending on where you do it, I had mine on a lift at the time.
I have the short leaf, it goes on the bottom of your spring pack.

For the short leaf you need to take the axle off the springs, unbolt the springs, add the aal then rebolt the springs, and cut the excess thread from the new center bolt.

Its quite simple really. The hardest part is getting the truck jacked up if you dont have access to a lift or similar.

Sounds easy enough to do the AAL. I don't have anywhere to do it here and I don't think it would be appropriate for my apartment parking garage.... Sounds like a project to do in my friends barn next time I'm in CT for a long weekend.

Where can I get the AAL from? I did a quick look at 4WheelParts and they didn't have anything.

helper springs are NOT the same as an add a leaf. Get it on rough countries website. Should come as a kit with u-bolts and new center pins. Personally if you were looking for a REALLY easy way to gain an inch of lift, I would get the stock blocks out of a 80-96 2wd f150 (they are 1 inch taller than stock ranger blocks and a LOT cheaper.

Helper springs go overtop of your exhisting springs for more payload. They are bolt on and you dont have to take anything apart. Creates an EXTREMELY stiff ride.

Add a leaves go in between your exhisting spring pack and are bolted through the center pin. Main lengths are short and long, short being a rougher ride usually.

I work at a spring shop. I get that question a lot actually. lol There's quite a difference between the two.

Will helper springs accomplish what I'm trying to do (add maybe 2" to the back)? or do they maintain the same level and produce results when a load is applied?
