Default 2001 Ford Ranger Rear Wheel wont go forward..?

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger 4.0 4X4 that has a wierd problem. When I drive the truck it feels like I have alot of rear end resistance, almost like Im towing a load, but Im not. Yesterday when there was a little snow out I tried to drive it but It was dragging the drivers side rear wheel. Another wierd thing is that when I go reverse, the drivers side rear wheel spins fine without any resistance. Please HELP!!
It has a 5 Speed manual transmission also. Thanks for the responses!

you may need to remove the rear wheels and check the rear brakes for adjustment issues. If they are drum they may just be out of adjustment.

When settin rear shoes, adjust them till they just touch the drums, then back them off one click. If they still touch a little bit that'll grind off in time.

There might be some other stuff up though.

Like a thrashed spider gear, or a parking brake stuck. Pull it apart and investigate

98 ford ranger, only goes in reverse, will not move forward at all. Feels like its torquing the drivetrain. ive tried with or without 4x4. its a 5 speed gearbox, manual. is it a vacum line, or the emergency brakes?
