Default After Torsion Adjustment

I have adjusted the torsion bars on my 2011 Sport 4x4. I started out with 33 1/4" on both front wheels (wheel well to ground), both rear wheels was 35 1/2".
I turned the DS T-Bar bolt 4 1/2 full turns and the PS T-Bar bolt 8 full turns. The result is 34 3/4" on both front wheels. The rear remained the same at 35 1/2" both sides. My question is, is this typical where the adjustment could be this much different, almost 4 full turns? ALso, after reading a lot of threads, I should be able to put on 265/85/16" tires and have no issues? The truck came with 255/70/16".

Yes that sounds about right honestly, plus you gotta figure if your gas tank was completly full or empty could even change how much you actually turn that one side as well. If I was you id do the pre-key mod and put on some 285's if your wanting to keep the truck stock and not lift it any.

It's good to know that the turn difference is not odd. The gas tank is about a 1/4 tank. I ran it down to keep the weight on both sides about the same. I am not planning on putting a lift kit on, I just wanted the vehicle to be level and have a few extra inches of height. The 265/85/16's will give me about about 3/4" more height than the 255/70/16s.

here the height of 255x70x16 would be 30.28 inches high.

height of 265x85x16 is 34.02 inches high

thats a differences of 3.74 inches in tire.

According to the on-line tire calculator I used (www.miata.net/), the 255/70/16 has a diameter of 30.1" and the 285/75/16 has a diameter of 32.8". What conversion tool are you using? Can't trust anything these days.

I just checked www.tacomaworld.com tire size calculator (yea I know, it's Tacoma) and it shows 255/70/16 Diameter inches (mm) 30.06 (763.4) 265/85/16 Diameter inches (mm) - 32.83 (833.9), Difference of 2.77" (70.5 mm) 9.2%

If you have a 255x70x16 your overall diameter will be around 30.05-30.06 give or take a tiny bit, and a 265x85x16 over diameter will be 33.73-33.74 but thats because the middle 85 is so much bigger than the 70 of the other tire.

you said your running 255x70x16 right? what size tire are you trying to run and that will make this much easier. Are you trying to move up to a 32 inch tire? because you wont fit a 33 under there stock especially without the pre-key mod and blocks.

and yeah thats what I originally used but I dont like his way of configuring stuff. I went through like 5 different things and the numbers I just posted for you are what I got for like 3 different websites so im going to say those are your best bet.

Ok, I am all confused, how about 265/75/16, this should fit without a lift kit?

haha ok lets start this over. what size tire are you trying to run, like circum wise. For instance I have 33x12.5's, but your obviously not going to fit that tire on yours stock. So what are you trying to run looks wise, 32's?

I used Duratrac's on my 2003, I love that tire. When I bought them about 2 years back I paid about $150 each balanced out the door. Now they run over $200, so I am still looking but I will probably end up with the Goodyear Duratrac's.

----------

I just realized you asked about the pre-key n block mod? I have no idea on what this is or how to install.

YES thats what I have. if your not going to do the pre-key n block mod, then id run the 265x75x16 duratrac. If you are going to do that mod, then id run 285x75x16 duratrac.

Just scheduled an appointment for Saturday to have the Goodyear Duratrac's installed (265/75/16) at CJ's in Lionville. $800 out the door including an alignment. I will have a set of 255/70/16s for sale, cheap!
