Cranking Torsion Bars
I have an 04 Ranger Edge 4x2 I tried cranking the torsion bars, but the bolts i was tighting wasn't doing anything. It was the bolt that were pushing the keys up. Am i doing something worng?

So far everything in the truck is stock except for the radio, its an alpine. Future plans are - 3inch bl, Truxx Leveling kit, and Fabtechs 3inch spindle -kit,with a block and add-a-leaf in rear. Tires haven't decided yet 33 or 35's

Re: Cranking Torsion Bars
did you have the truck off the ground? the front end needs to be lifted off the ground.

Re: Cranking Torsion Bars
Yes I had the front end off the ground - I noticed the bolt I was tighting on the passenger side wouldn't tighten anymore, the bolt was in as far as it could go, and the front end didn't lower like I thought it would.

Re: Cranking Torsion Bars
Yes i did I backed them out to where they where b4 and the end of the key just dropped. I talked to a guy at Truxx, and he told me that some trucks you can't crank the tb's up. that you have to buy a leveling kit

Re: Cranking Torsion Bars
Yeah me to, I wonder if the Edge's torsion keys are differnt than a 4x4 cause i do notice that my front end does sit alot lower than a 4x4 and the tires are not as big either

Re: Cranking Torsion Bars
Cranking the T-Bars raises the ride height of the front of any 98+ 4x4 Ranger, and 01+ Edge and Sport 4x4 or 4x2. 1998-2011 4x2 trucks that are not Edge or Sport models do not have Torsion bars.
To the OP, my 4x2 Edge sits much lower in the front than a stock 4x4 does as well. Ford lied when they said the 4x2 Edge has the same ride height as a Ranger 4x4.

Re: Cranking Torsion Bars
I keep hearing about cranking up your torsion bars will level out your truck but I also hear that cranking up your torsion bars can be bad. They say that it wears out the front end parts fast and can busted CV's joints. Can anyone help me with this because I want to put bigger tire on my truck by doing a torsion bar cranking. Thanks for your help.
