Default Leaf Spring question

Hi all,
I have a 95 Ranger 2wd 2.3 auto long box, stabilizer bars all around. It seems quite stiff in the rear and I havent opted for the Bilstiens yet. What I have noticed is that most other Rangers have 4 leafs, I have 3, their top 3 being quite thinner than my top 2. If I understand the thick bottom leaf its an anti-inversion spring and its quite thick. Insight please. Whats the deal with my springs and what can I do for a better riding truck?

Pics please.................

FYI: Torsion bar suspension in the Ranger didn't start til 98up....... your 95 has twin I beams in the front & leafs (as you diescribed above) in the rear.

Do you have a 3, 4, or 5 leaf spring setup? My 95 has 3 and I have seen some with 1 fiberglass spring.

Thanks for the insight RR, a closer look in my manual has them as stabilizer bars, not torsion bars. I have 3 leafs in the rear. Is your truck stiff as well? What shocks are you running?

My rear suspension is quite different than what it was originally, it's all stock parts, but not the same configuration..........

My truck rides good and hooks up quik..........I measured the length I needed and had a friend at NAPA look up shocks by length, and he came up with front shocks for a Cordoba..............

THANKS for the interest!

RR, care to share your configuration? I really like my truck and would like a better ride from the rear suspension. Any insight into why some rangers have 3 leaf's and some have 4 like mine?

If I was to render a guess..........I'd say that Supercabs have 4 do to weight difference & 4X4's.....

As far as my configuration, if you click the link below in my signature, you will see that I moved my leaf spring to a Explorer like setup & used 2 right-side rear axles to narrow my rearend 3" to run 15X12 Welds & 28X15.50 Pro Street tires.
