Default HIghway Shaking Problem!!!!

Hello All,

I'm expierenceing a problem where I drive my 2004 base model Ranger at 60mph and the cabin and steering wheel begin to shake and vibrate A LOT!

now this all started when I got new brakes, which lead to replacing a tire cuz it was splitting and sweeling. This lead to an alignment which would discover that my castor could not be aligned becasue the shop was incapable of doing it......

Now im just trying to figure out if this could still be causing my vibration and shaking!

someone please HELP!!!!!!!!

I have had the same problem. I got new tires and had them balanced twice and still had the problem. I was able to get rid of most of the vibration by changing my shocks. It rides like new (well almost new, lol). If you've never changed your shocks, I bet that's your problem. I hope this helps.

When in doubt about your front end. Take your Ranger to a person who specializes in front end suspension work. This person should be certified. "ASE" or Automotive Service Excellence is a good certification to start with. If you intend to do the work yourself. Have a pro identify what you need repaired and get a written estimate. At least it is cheaper and safer than replacing parts at random. If you do not posses the skill set to do a safe repair. Leave it to the pros.
Been there and done that.

I would look into the other things first, but I have heard of Rangers that suffer from highway vibration because of the driveshaft....I think because it's out of balance. I hear they develop quite a shimmy at highway speeds.

loose rim? wheel out of balance? jack the front end and grab the wheel and see if you can shake the tire and see/feel anything wrong
