Supposedly the bilstein's in the levell II's are specially valved for the ranger. I have heard from other people that the Bilstein's from the parts stores are diff. The only way to get the same ones as the Levell II's is to go to the dealer. they are not cheap, I think they told me they were around $88.00 a piece. I'm to cheap and bought 4 pro-comps for $100.00. They work good for me and I haven't wished that I spent more money on shocks yet.

hmm interesting thread about the specially valved ones for the ranger. I wonder if anyone has any info to compare on how other shocks rank up to the bilsteins for the price??? I know supposidly the bilsteins are amazing but they are a hefty price tag just for shocks, anyone else have any real life testing they can add in on how others do compared to the bilsteins???? just food for thought!

Wow, didn't remember them being that high, but then again, when they told me the price I just laughed and walked away.

I purchased my Bilsteins off ebay for less than 3 huneys and they do what Bilsteins do. Not my first set off ebay either.

The 4600 series Bilstein Shocks are designed specifically for Ford to fit the Sport & FX4 Level II Rangers & the Mazda equivalents. They are expensive, doesn't matter if you buy them online or from Ford. The price is about the same either way. Most parts stores (Autozone, Pepboys, Advanced, ect.) don't even list a different shock for the Sport & FX4's. They will try to tell you that all 4x4 Rangers have the same suspension & if yours doesn't then it must be modified. I have had this argument at all 3 of the above mentioned stores. They looked at my truck & told me it was lifted & wasn't factory. When I told them they were wrong they said no vehicle comes lifted from the factory. So we measured the shocks & they looked them up that way & tried to sell me shocks. But when I looked up the specs they didn't even compare. I agree the Bilsteins made for these trucks are over priced but I do occasionally go off roading & I do alot of heavy hauling. I won't risk a weaker shock.
