Default Rotor Replacement and Jack Points

Hi all,
I'm brand new here and this is my first question.
My '06 Ranger has developed a shudder when the brakes are applied. Same thing happened on my older Ranger, and I solved the problem by replacing the rotors.
My question is when using my floor jack, where's a good jack point to use to get the entire front end off the ground? I don't want to bend anything.
Also, I've noticed that the nuts that hold the rotors in place seem to back off after a few hundred miles. Any ideas why? I found this question was asked before, but I couldn't find an answer.
I guess that was two questions.

Thanks,
Nick

Trying to remember on the hub nut... I could swear there was a cotter key that was needed to hold the nut in place after it is tightened.

As far as jacking the whole front, look for a cross member and jack there. There should be one right below the engine.

Edit: You didn't mention if you have a 4X4 or not. The cotter pin comment is only applicable if you have RWD.

I also want to add to make sure you use jack stands, don't trust the jack to hold the vehicle up.

Thanks, Mike. I should've said it is a RWD version, and yeah, there is a little cotter key that holds a cap in place over the nut. Given the unusual torque procedure for that nut (tighten, loosen, tighten), maybe the important thing is that it doesn't come off:-).
I always use plenty of jackstands.
