Default shock tower

My daughter and I are working on her new to her Ranger, and it came to us with a rotted out front coil spring bucket/tower. It's the component riveted to the frame and has one bolt through it to the crossmember. We bought one of there:

https://www.autoandtrucksprings.com/...e-shock-bt-rr/

But the mounting holes don't match up exactly, and the hole the break hose mounts to isn't even there. Not sure whet the hex holt on it is for, but the original has two holes in it, and this is missing that one.

So the big question is this- I can get the new bracket in there and bolted on with at least two bolts through the original mounting places. I can open up the mounting holes so they will be usable on at least a third. I was also going to wire-brush and media blast the surface rust/leftover chunks form the original plate, and use the shiny bare metal to MIG the plate on with.

I figure the mounting holes will allow for proper alignment of the plate, and 3 bolts plus welding will allow it to be a secure attachment.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions- even another supplier for the mounting plate. Thanks.

2WD won't work on a 4WD.

I also just realized, the one from the Bronco Graveyard is a 1986- I goofed on that one. Ironically, they are backordered from Ford, and still charged my card- isn't that fraud?

Saintjude33, I am in the process of doing the same exact thing on my sons 1996 ranger. I purchased the same part from ATS I installed it after taking the time to re-drill three of the holes that didn't line up correctly only to find out that when I put the spring in it falls out even after the sway bar was connected. the mount I received from ATS an inch taller than the original. how have you made out on yours? I contacted Bob at ATS with concerns that the mount was the wrong one before I opened up the holes. he assured me it should work. I am not very happy at all with this product. please let me know if you have the same issue.

I haven't gotten into it- I have the ATS one as well as the NG one, going to do a comparison this evening. Did you end up having it fit in the end? What did Bob at ATS say when you contacted him about the extra space?

Well, the ATS version was definitely the wrong one. Only 2 out of 5 lined up, and the frame crossmember bolt didn't fit right.

The Bronco Graveyard did work, though, no modifications. I'm going to email them to let them know it was a perfect fit- even the break line fit into the D-hole in it.

I had removed the coil spring, and I am having a bit of a time getting it back in. I dropped the sway bar, and now the bolts appear to not screw back in. It looks like the threads had rusted out- is there an easy repair on this.

I also will need to replace the shock absorber bottom mount stud- have to cut and grind and drill, since it looks like they may have welded it on at the factory.

Any suggestions would be a blessing.

Bob didn't have much to say other than that they use it in the shop. I find that hard to believe. He mentioned something about spring spacers to make up for the taller spring mount. He was supposed to call me back when he found something out. I am very disappointed with the product to say the least and the costumer service. I looked around on this sight a bit and guys are using stacked flat washers for lifting the front to level si I figure I'll try make up the inch difference like that.
As far as you lower spring bolt goes you should be able to use the right length grade8 then nut it on the top. Of the axle once it's threaded through. I'll let you know how I make out with the washers. Also I didn't see the spring mount listed on jeff's sight.
