Default New shocks

Want ot get new shocks for my 2009 4X4 as the ones on it now are the original. At 143K miles I assume its time tho its not showing any weird ride or anything. I don't want Bilstiens as I once have Monroe Magnums on an old F-100 back in the day and it rode very hard. I'm looking at KYB and thinking on the Gas Adjust ones. Has anyone had any experience with them on your 4X4 and how was the ride. I wouldn't mind a slightly stiffer ride but definately not overly so. Thanks.

Mike

Staying street side or are you off roading the truck?

If offroading you actually want a slightly softer shock and for the road [or the driveway queens] a stiffer shock for street.

There are some who will suggest stiffer shocks and softer springs too but I myself am not a fan of that thought school.

Air shocks are for assisting for payload and essentially the precurser to a far better option and suspension setup without adding a helper spring - Airbag Suspension.

Outside of that airshocks today are a rather archaic band-aid for moderate to heavier payloads but essentially do NOTHING for ride control, especially under empty loads IMO. For this case or situation you would be best to find a better shock for the purpose/intent needed and basically find a shock and valving best suited for that purpose.

Bilstiens aren't that aggressive and can be valved a certain way as well. My understanding of the OP is he wants ride quality, not so much payload in which would be more dependent on the actual springs. The shocks just keep the springs in check/control.

Not all shocks are equal but not all shocks should cost you an arm or a testicle either but to a certain point if you want better than stock, you will put down a few shiny pennies for an upgrade...

Otherwise go to any big-box autoparts store [think O'reallys or Autism Zone] and order the OEM Gabriels for $26-32ea and call it a done day.

To clarify, the truck is street driven only. I got 4WD for the winters here in the north east. My driving is highway 99% of the time. I know the Bilstiens are one of the best out there but cost is a factor for me. Thanks.

BILSTEIN BILSTEIN BILSTEIN BILSTEIN.

THE RUBBER BUSHINGS ON THESE SHOCKS ARE ONE OF THE BEST.

SOME OTHER AFTERMARKET BUSHINGS ON THE SHOCKS ARE JUNK. LOOK AT OLDER shocks on highways on trucks and you will see the shock move with worn bushings. NOW LOOK AT AN OLD BILSTEIN SHOCK BUSHINGS...
