Default Urethane bushings...

I've heard a few different opinions regarding urethane bushings, some similar in opinion varying from good to bad.

I am quite familiar with the differences in other platforms of vehicles, mostly that of the import world and many of the pros and cons if any; very few other than comfort loss due to NVH through the chassis.

Been around Energy Suspension for some time although not very recent. And I am familiar with Prothane which if I recall were just a little stiffer in the durometer of their formula. I didn't use them so much in many installs.

Has anyone here used or have any opinions on the James Duff units in relation to quality or use that I may compare that with what I already know. I hate to admit it but I'm in unfamiliar territory this time...

I hadn't seen this until just now James. I used Energy suspension urethanes on my 250 SD a few years ago. They made an improvement on mine. I got the swaybar bushings and end links. Bear in mind, my old bushings were worn, and things were clanking around. I ran them for around 25k until I sold the truck.
I think the cost was worth it. I actually fixed what Ford said was impossible.

Thanks John.. Mine are starting to show signs of cracking and age, its a 93' and as I stated I've always liked ES over Prothane urethane bushings but I came across the James Duff bushing kit.. Wasn't sure if they were much different in comparison other than just being "blue" in color (?) or not..

I have just recently started having an issue where the passenger side, front of the bed seems to have started to sag enough that on some rougher roads the Flip-Pac will "knock" on the cab. Where exactly I havent located just yet but above annoying it worries me when it happens. Could be unrelated altogether in that aspect.

I really need to find some time to lay under the truck and check out the frame and other components.

Yikes, that doesn't sound like something I'd like to be hearing. Since it's started to sag, I'd take a close look at the box crossmember at the very front of the bed, the one where the bolts go through. Can you pickup that corner at all?
I just got about 85% done on my bed replacement, that crossmember was a thing I looked at closely when I got the salvaged bed for it.
Hope it isn't a none repairable issue.

I think I had around 150k when I had just about a complete front end rebuild on the Ranger. I was downstate, and my back was against a wall. Everything was replaced with Moog, not junk by any means, but I would have preferred ES.

Ill have to look at that Wed and see if anything is odd or out of spec.

Only thing I've taken notice of is the front edge of the bed floor where it meets the so called bed "firewall" and the floor was separating in a way that I couldnt really see or understand.. like something was prying between the two planes of metal if you will..

And currently I am on a quest for a older 4x4 rolling frame in which I plan on doing a full frame up resto on. Seems extensive and excessive considering age of the truck but I have my reasons...

I may even do a aluminum UTE flatbed and canopy on the Standard cab I have now and when I get a extra cab 4x, transplant the Flip-Pac onto the new rig. So like you, I am a bit of a moog fan and will go through both rigs from bottom to top.

Wow, I didn't know what a Flip Pak was until I did a google, neat little package.

On that front bulkhead, firewall. There is a lip or flange on the front crossmember, that the floor is spot welded to. Mine is no longer welded, I had to cut out 6" of the floor even on the new one, because that flange was gone, and used a piece of 1/8X 1 1/2" angle iron in it's place. As luck would have it, my welder did an "arcs and sparks" show on me, so I had to resort to 3/16" rivets, and make up a strongback that bolts up around the tubular bed support the hold down bolts go thru. I hope I'm wrong, but it's sounding like you may have a problem with the support in that corner, due to decay or stress. Out here you are, I'd suspect stress, an easy thing to remedy with reinforcement.

Ya, on that flat bed!! If Santa is good to me, and brings me a new welder, that may be in my cards. I've got a few ideas floating in the olde brainpan.
LOL, if I do that, the frame for the flatbed will likely wind up stronger than the truck frame!!

I might have to see what you had to do there. On the new frame, i plan on boxing in a lot of the frame as possible.. So additional concerns would be niceto know

Wilco...

These will be replacement Body Mount Bushings but I think I will be adding to that with other bushings soon too in urethane. I had zero complaints of use in my track cars other than the engine mounts transferred a shit ton of engine vibrations through the unibodys of my couple of track cars..

made for shitty daily grinders at times...

Ahhh I did read that too... I wouldn't do the motor just the suspension stuff. New leafs, shackles, hangers, upper and lower control arms, front sway bar. But I need to buy the parts first
