Which dealer to believe and what would you do?
Plane Jane 4 cyl 2010 Ranger. ~80k miles. One NH Ford dealer says I need an upper ball joint, cost I think was about $300 + 90 alignment. Last week I was in Massachusetts and my key got stuck in my ignition and would not turn, so I had it towed and had the lock assembly replaced cost about $420.
I asked the Ma dealer to check my suspension because I don't particularly trust the one that said I needed a ball joint.
This Ford dealers says I need Left Upper and Lower Control Arm + both tie rod ends cost = ~$1100
I don't know who to believe and worse the NH dealer says my brakes are no good because they are "seriously pitted." The MA dealer only notes that my front brake pads are getting worn.
The NH dealer says my bearings need tightening and repacking but the MA doesn't even comment.
Yikes. Suggestions please, have them replace just upper ball joint or do control arm? Thanks
