Default Prerunner in the making

Hey guys,

Been a while since I've last posted on here. Been real busy with work. But I have a v6 3.0L automatic 2wd ford ranger. Completely stock except for the exhaust. It has a 3 inch exhaust tip right in front of the back tire. It sounds nice. But anyways, I want to build my truck into a prerunner. It's an XLT model. I've been debating on saving some money and buying it all at once or just little by little. the pic I posted is a older one. I'll make sure to update it. But if you guys have any suggestions or comments feel free to chime in. Thanks guys

Better save a lot to build a prerunner lol unless you want to build it just to look like one and not have the performance like one. Then it's not too bad

Nah I'm building one for sure. I'm saving up to get a long travel suspension. I just need some help with what sites I should go to because I found this one for 1800 bucks and I'm willing to do it but I'm sure there's cheaper ones

Lol first off the camburg 5.5 kit is not a long travel kit. It's a joke and a waste of money if you're trying to build a prerunner. You are not going to find anything cheap. And anything cheap you find is not good. For the xlt models I really like blitzkriegs kits. You could go cheap for shocks with FOAs which are garbage but they work. If you aren't wanting to cage and link your rear end which is what it sounds like... then a link killer kit would be a good option for you. Giant motorsports sells great kits for that

Lmao that Camburg kit is just a lift when you think of it. They use stock snouts and press them into their fabbed uprights because it's "stronger"

You want something good it has to be custom. Custom boxed uppers, tubed lowers, cut the coil buckets, fab it flush and gusset the frame. Coilovers, then you need fiberglass, wheels, tires, front and rear bumpers, bed cage, rear shocks and longer leafs.

For real I would say the best budget build would be something like this. Real front long travel! Don't get some rigged up front suspension that will wreck your front end at 14" of travel. As far as the back goes I think this is where you save the money. Explorer axle swap with 64" leafs. Link killer kits are great but otherwise you can get new stock brackets and use those. So use a junkyard exolorer axle with the link killer set up and build yourself a little bolt in bed cage to run some 16" smooth bodies. That stuff is so easy to do! So front spend some money and rear is where you can save

Good kit for you on the front in my opinion: http://www.blitzkriegoffroad.com/pro...08-ranger-xlt/

What you would need for the rear: http://giantmotorsports.com/index.ph...af-spring-kit/

That is just to get you started. If you want fiberglass I'll hook you up with a guy who makes great stuff and cheaper than everything else too. Fiberwerx looks like trash compared to his if you ask me.

Also I wouldn't even try a truck like this unless you can do minor fab work like brackets and lay a decent bead with a little mig welder

Haha well hate to dissapoint you but all this stuff is expensive. If you're not gonna go all out then just get some fiberglass on there, some bigger tires, new shocks, deaver f31s and maybe regear and just beat it til breaks lol

No. I'm determined to go all out. It's gonna take a while. I just have to actually have the truck with me to get motivated and what not.

The truck is located in Ocala Florida. But I'm in the AF so right now I'm in San Antonio.
