Default Re: Lifting block help as far as which ones?

Damn!!

I should have checked this thread last night!

I ended up ordering the following that stated they were for a 2wd Ranger:

Ford parts:
Ranger Rear Suspension-Plate Spacer Left F87Z5598EB
Ranger Rear Suspension-Plate Spacer Right F87Z5598EA

AnythingCanHappen,

I appreciate the offer! I should have checked sooner. The ebay ones said for a 2wd so with everyone saying look for those I ordered them :-(
I'll post pictures one I get them to see if it helps anyone in the future if there is a difference to them at all compared to the ones you posted.

Thanks!

-Nigel

Arrow Re: Lifting block help as far as which ones?

Got my blocks today. Overall height when measure was 1 7/8th inches tall. Guess that is close enough to two right...lol

I attempted to install the block by undoing the u bolts then using a jack to lift up the leaf spring slowly then lower it on the block... holes didn't line up so I ended up having to remove the leaf spring. I should have done that first because it took WAY less time doing the other side by simply undoing the leafspring. I replaced the rear shocks with 4x4 ones to get a couple extra inches, but I was surprized at how far the standard 4x2 rear shocks extended. I know people said 2" lift shackles were fine, and I can see how that really wouldn't but a lot of stress on the shock if you are doing highway (which I am). But then add on another 2" for the lift block and I didn't want to max it out. Luckily I re-did my leaf springs and rear shackle mounts a few months back so nothing was "bonded" like it was with the original hardware.

I'll take pictures in the morning.

I wish I had 31" or 32" tires but my 30.5" will have to do...lol I love it though, I should have done this sooner. The truck looks so much better lifted up. I think the 4x4 shocks also firmed up the rear. Before I could jump on the bed and it would be significant bounce/sag and now it's a lot firmer which is good I think.

Thanks for all the help!

Hmmm. I'm curious why your blocks and shackles leveled it. That shouldn't have happened.

4" spindle and 4" of lift in the rear. Add in some spring sag and it makes sense.

Default Re: Lifting block help as far as which ones?

So I think 6 months or so ago I replaced my front coil springs. Instead of using standard cab springs I used extended cab pickup springs. I believe they were roughly .50-.60" taller and they had a stiffer spring rate. I also did new leaf springs and shackles/mounts I think a month after that. Had I known I was going to do this lift I wouldn't have purchased stock shackles.

That with the new spindle lift had my front end higher. It bothered me. and was even more amplified if you looked at the passenger side because the front passenger wheel well was higher up compared to the drivers. I could see the lean back look, my wife didn't even notice until I brought it up to her and she kind of hinted like "oh, now I see it but it's not bad" type deal...

The lift shackles helped. It would have looked REALLY bad had I not put them on..lol

The lift blocks brought up the back end up now which is great. I will have to do measurements now as I wrote them down and can post back up.

My only gripe with rangers is the passenger side is higher than the drivers so it looks odd to me. I definitely like the truck being up higher. I think I am officially done with the truck. There's no point putting anymore money into it as far as mods...lol
I'm happy with how it looks. I kinda wish I would have done this sooner as in 3 years ago. I would always joke around and say I enjoyed how much truck looked when I it on jackstands because it was higher up in the air. When I went from the tiny tires to my 30" I was like nice! That's a bigger difference!

The back end is still about an inch or two taller than the front but I think it looks good since to the eye it looks balanced instead of leaning in one way or another.
