Question Figured I will need to do this too.

I am waiting on my spindle lift to get here, and I have been reading that I might as well go ahead and replace the ball joints. How do I go about changing them out? what will I need? its an 07 ford ranger with coil springs. Thanks guys

You can rent a ball joint separator from Autozone for $55. Then when you're done, pack it back up and take it back, they will refund your money. It has instructions inside.

One more thing* if your lower ball joint isn't bad. Don't bother replacing it. I have the same truck as you and mine is in good shape with 144,000 miles. Also these cheap $10 ball joints you find on Amazon WILL BREAK. There was another member whos B joint snapped and you can do some serious damage that way. You're better off with the Moog joints or Ford OEM joints.

Mine was a used truck when I got it, and it already had regreasable Moog ball joints on it. If you're gonna do the ball joints, Moog it up and make sure you've got some grease plugs on 'em. Anything else is a waste of effort and money. If the current ball joints are OK, don't touch them. The greasing feature is what allows them to last just short of forever. So if you're not getting that out of it, it ain't worth it.
