Default Upper control arm

My ball joints are going on my 06 4x4 ranger so it's time with the old and in with the new. Wanted to see what people paid for a new control arm because a shop by my house wanted 130 bucks just for the part and I think that's to much. I might buy the part my self and install since it's not that bad and then get a alignment. Also my truck only has 56k miles on it.

I replaced them on my 2000 Ranger last summer & then had it aligned. I also installed the caster/camber bolt kit in place of the fixed bolt for the upper control arms so when I had it aligned the alignment shop did not have to charge me to install them in case they needed adjustment.

Check out this link for the info for replacing the upper control arms.

Here is how I buy parts.

First I go on advance auto parts and look to see if they have it in stock and select store pickup. Then I use coupon codes from retailmenot.com.

Right now they have 50 off 100 for the first 2000 people to use the code.

Your part should be K8708T for the front left upper and K80068 for the front right upper. These are Problem Solver series (means they have a greasable ball joint...GET THIS) the other cheaper Moog parts are R-series (don't get them).

The lefts are 120.99 and the rights are 125.99

You will need to act fast to get the discount as it is limited.

First make 2 accounts.

Buy the left one on one account and use WD58 for the 50 off and then use the other account to buy the right using the same code. Usually they only let one of these codes be used per account.

So you will be paying (120.99-50=70.99)+(125.99-50=75.99)=145.99 plus tax. Almost the cost of one part if you let the shop buy it.

Get those cam bolts stated above.

Put the parts on and drive straight to get an alignment.

About 250 total.

What? I got a brand new pair off ebay brand new for $64. Took me about 40 minutes to do it myself. And if you put the cam bolts back to where the metal looks worn from where they were the last time your alignment should be pretty close. I got mine checked when I had my last oil change and it was only off 1/2 of one degree..not even going to pay to have that aligned.

If I also may add..

Dont mean to thread jack but on my 2000 it has the one piece control arm on drivers side with camber bolts. On passenger it has 2-piece. I replaced my ball joints a couple weeks ago and went to get it aligned. I was unaware the stock camber bolts were "nonadjustable" so i ordered the aftermarket adjustable camber bolts for that side. What about the passenger side? How do you get that adjusted without swapping in a 1 piece control arm? Granted my passenger side isn't nearly out of align as the drivers side so that's a plus. just wondering.

You know that's not 100% true. I bought some upper arms and they're working pretty nicely. I've been doing some mild off roading and they're not messing up my alignment, not clunking, etc. The lower ball joints is what I don't trust.
