Default Time for new shocks!!. What have you guys tried and liked

This is on my 1999 4X4 all the shocks are shot on it and need replacing. Because it is a 4x4 i will off road it once in awhile so I want something a little bit firm but still smooth and comfortable on the highways. There are a lot of different brands and models out there and cost is a issue so before I waste my money trying out a set I thought I would see what you guys have tried.

I'm currently running the Rancho9000XLs all around. I initially hated them but after messing around with the settings I love them! Before I had the Monroe sensatracs which weren't bad but they were way too soft for the roads I travel on.

I looked at the Rancho`s they are nice but if I recall they were a lot of $$$. Do you think it was worth the extra cash for them?.

Considering I plan on keeping my truck for quite some time (only 51,500 miles on it) yes I think it's worth the $350...granted the cheaper rear shocks were a Christmas gift

The ones I seen were like $250.00 for the whole set. I only want to spend a hundred or so on them because the truck has 186k on it and not sure how long it will be around so I was thinking of some cheaper brands.

I recommend getting something with a lifetime warranty. I have the sensatracs and have used the warranty once already. It's nice because I never have to worry about buying shocks again. As for off roading, they're fine at crawling speeds. Pot holes hurt once you get into second gear and above.

PS Monro RIPS YOU OFF if you try to buy the shocks from one of their shops. They cost over 40% more at their shop than a half mile down the road at Advance.

Hope this helps,
Hank

I bought all mine on rockauto.com all Monro life time warranty. Paid $250. For front and rear. Just replaced upper and lower control arms with ball joints and new bushings. Door seals license plate light and a tail gate cable with shipping for $287.00. Oh and sway bar links for $40. At the auto zone.. I like this web sight way cheaper then any local place and prices are great..

I just put on Monroe sense trac shocks last weekend. They seem to ride good and are reasonably priced. Put them on an 03 r.c. 4x4.
