Default Wheel bearing question

I've been reading some of the threads on front wheel bearings but they all seem to be '98 or newer trucks. I have a '96 that is getting a small amount of play in the left front. Near as I can tell this is not a sealed hub assembly. Is there an inner/outer bearing like a 2wd? Do the bearing lay in a race or do they have to be pulled or pryed out? Thanks.

Default Re: Wheel bearing question

the 97 and older 4x4's have an inner and outer bearing similar to the 2wd but the bearings are just bigger to allow room for the axle shaft to go through the spindle. there are inner and outer races pressed into the rotor/ hub. if you know how to service the 2wd bearings you will have no problem with the 4x4 set up.

Thanks for the info. I don't know why I sweat some of this stuff- guess I just like to have an idea of what I'm headed into. New bearings this week-end!
