Angry Bilsteins NO GOOD

95 XLT 2wd 4.0 150K miles Stock suspension Purchased on Ebay full set of new Bilsteins 3 years ago. After 5 K fronts turned bouncy. Persevered and finally bought new fronts from shockwarehouse Oct 2013 These were bouncy from new. Emailed Bilstein directly. Prompt reply "send them to us and we will test them" 2 weeks later I was sent 6 new shock absorbers. I was also told that the replacement shocks had been tested and were in mid range of specs. The fronts are still bouncy. Went to a reputable brake/suspension specialist who verified the front shocks are no good. Bilstein by the way are their top of the line shock. He was somewhat perplexed. I've contacted Bilstein with the details and am getting the run around. I'm driving my Ranger with substandard handling and braking. Is anyone else out there having problems with Bilsteins for their stock 2wd?

Installed new 4600 HDs on my level II back in july. Both rears are exploded and leaking already. Replacing them today. Fronts feel a little sketchy too. Wont be buying bilsteins again. Hopefully i can get a refund. I dont want any more POS bilstein! Mall crawler shocks.

I had Bilsteins for years with zero problems.

When I went to coilovers I stuck with Bilsteins in the rear, still like them.

Mine are fine. These are 3 years old and this is rebuild number 2 on the ranger.

Mall crawler shocks. Not built for life in Canada or anywhere else that actually has real world off road conditions.

I mean any shock thats cheap isnt gonna give you heavy offroad performance. These are for light to mild trail riding if anything. If you want to take it somewhere real difficult get a real offroad shock. But just know a resi or emulsion shock will cause your on road driving to be much shittier and rougher

Can't wait until member 'cdawall' sees this comment....he might differ in opinion with you just a tad.

Sounds like they have treated him alright on his rig.

Nobody is riding worse roads than me, so he can lump it. I've blown up six bilsteins in the last ten months, two of which were brand new, and I'm not hopeful the new front end bilsteins I'm riding now will last much longer.

Noone makes a 'real' off road shocks that is a direct bolt on to a ranger, at least that I can find. For a truck with an 'off road' reputation, that's some weak shit. Shouldn't have to spend four digit money on shocks and custom mounts to have real-world performance. I'm going back to a silverado next year.

look into FOA shocks they can directly bolt up with the rear, as far as the front no, but you'll have a quality ride in the rear lol

These aren't off road shocks This is a 2WD vehicle that gets no off road use. Bilstein emailed about 3 weeks back to say they would tell shockwarehouse to refund for the last pair of fronts. So far no refund I will be posting pics in a weeks time including one of my tailgate with blue and yellow lettering "INCREASE YOUR BRAKING DISTANCE WITH BILSTEIN SHOCKS"

I live down a gravel road and that truck has more miles on gravel and rock crawling than the street now...admitedly my shocks were 2-3x the cost of your crap yellow shocks. You can dislike bilstein i however will keep using and abusing them.

Which exact models do you have? Entry level shocks are entry level shocks...the label doesn't fix shit.

If your roads are so bad and you are blowing shocks, maybe you should slow down. Just a crazy thought.
