The fronts are still bouncy. Went to a reputable brake/suspension specialist who verified the front shocks are no good. Bilstein by the way are their top of the line shock. He was somewhat perplexed. I've contacted Bilstein with the details and am getting the run around. I'm driving my Ranger with substandard handling and braking. Is anyone else out there having problems with Bilsteins for their stock 2wd?

Wow .... it's amazing some of these members seem a little hostile.
Went from "your opinion" on shocks to them talking penis size...hmm

I feel like even though you drive a 95 ranger your expecting it to handle like a 2013 Audi
dude your truck is 18 years old
The ride isn't going to be perfect
I bet ya the shocks are just fine

Whenever I see a giant lifted truck that obviously never goes off road, I don't go for the "compensating" rant. Mine is more of a "that shouldn't be street legal because if you hit someone, you are going to kill them". I saw it happen. Guy in a over-lifted Dodge was pulling out of a parking lot and t-boned a sedan on the road. Couldn't have been going more than 5-10mph, but the side intrusion beams on doors don't help much when the bumper is coming through your window

Re: Bilsteins NO GOOD
OK I will be within 5 miles of downtown Nashville till June. Anyone who wants to check out how shitty these shocks are please contact me. I paid for better than factory replacement shocks. Everything is stock on this Ranger. It doesn't get driven offroad or hard on the road. I just wanted an aftermarket shock that performed better than original equipment. These shocks are far worse than original. I've taken my vehicle to mechanics and they agree. Anyone who wants to drop by and bounce the front bumper of my pickup is welcome. I want someone who is reading this thread to check out these shocks then post what they think. ozdiver@yahoo.com

Re: Bilsteins NO GOOD
Got a nice set of OEM replacements for sale 2wd T-bar set up...I do not understand what changing shocks for another set of base model shocks by an after market company and nothing else was supposed to do for your truck. Get your money back buy some from Bumper to Bumper. Also if you live in some sorta Antarctic misery like stated above maybe a light duty truck is a bad idea to begin with.

Re: Bilsteins NO GOOD
I only need a light duty truck. The point is I paid twice as much as OEM replacement shocks and received garbage. These base model Bilsteins are crap. That's what I'm saying. I think they have a production line problem or something. Just because I purchased base model shocks doesn't mean I shouldn't get what I paid for which is the same or better than OEM replacement.

Did you try the oem replacement shocks to see if they were better or worse? Those yellow tube bilsteins are a stiffer shock it sounds like you want to float like a caddi. Good luck you have shit torsion bars.

Re: Bilsteins NO GOOD
Actually the bilstiens are very soft. That's the problem. If you bounce the front bumper up and down then step away it keeps bouncing. In other words the shocks aren't working. Believe me, I have been driving for 34 years. I've put OEM shocks on this Ranger and got about 25K miles out of them. I know when the shocks are on their way out when the ABS brakes play up when braking hard on a rough road. I have original coil springs on front original leaf springs on back. I feel ripped off. These brand new Bilstiens are no better than worn out OEM shocks that's what I'm saying.

You do realize shock absorbers take no part in helping the vehicle stay upright. Your coils are most likely shot.

150k on oem leafs and coils and the shocks are the reason its been bouncy. yea your 34 years of driving have really tought you how diagnose what is really causing your suspension issues. We have the same issues with pilots huge difference between operators and mechanics.
Those yellow bilsteins are known for being stiff, much stiffer than stock so either you got the onlynsoft set ever produced or need to keep looking for issues.

Are we talking about the yellow bilsteins? I had those on my 2002 trd off road tundra and they rode nice. Not sure if we will get same results because the ranger is a lighter beast and it might need more weight for it to feel as good as the v8 tundras.

Good, but your argument is invalid & therefore your opinion means nothing! lol
You don't have a driveway in the freaking artic circle that's 484 miles long now do you!?!?
Everyone knows that's how you measure the durability of OEM replacement shocks! lol
