Default 2008 Ford Ranger Sport

Okay, here is a question for you gentlemen.

I took a job in Alberta, that is now stable. At home, in Nova Scotia (6k Kilometers, or 4K miles away) is my truck, a ford Ranger.

I am going home in July. My vehicle has been looked after. Started periodically, driven, etc.

When I go home, I am planning on bringing my quad with me. It's 500 pounds in weight. Just under, really. I know the machine will hi-center on the wheel wells, so I was gonna make a little ramp for it. It is short enough I believe the tailgate will close.

Now, that said...

It's 500 lbs. I'm a fat bastard at 250 pounds and my GF is around 200 pounds.

Is this going to bother the truck to drive with that weight at that distance? I don't flog it. 100 kph (60 mph) the entire way, not a shade over.

I've got a 2008 Ranger Sport, V6, extended cab, 4X4, etc

Thoughts?

TY

-Ben

I ran my Ranger with several quads, me and friends. I got no worse then 19 mpg, at 60 miles an hour. I say do it! I drive my truck cross country to Washington from Montana 988 miles, and with everything I owned in my truck (literally except my other two vehicles and some items in storage), all my stuff probably weighed about 900 plus pounds I'd guess I got around 17 mpg and that was at an average of around 70 miles per hour.
