Denver is the team to beat. With the 3 headed monster at receiver (Thomas, Decker, Welker) and Manning throwing it to em, along with Montee Ball in the backfield. The offense will be unstoppable. As far as defense goes, we only lost Dumervil, which sucks, but hes replaceable. Added Rodgers-Cromartie, Terrance Knighton, Shaun Phillips and Sly Williams. Also, Charles Woodson is visiting with them, today. If he gets signed, Denver's D will be lights out. Old or not, Champ and Woodson got mad skills still.

AFC
1.Denver
2.New England
3.Cincy
4.Indy
5.Houston
6.Pittsburgh

(Yup the defending champion Ravens go 7-9 and miss the postseason, mark my words)

NFC
1.Green Bay
2.San Fran
3.New Orleans
4.NY Giants
5.Seattle
6.Atlanta

Championship Games
NE @ Denver - Denver Wins
NO @ GB - Green Bay Wins

Denver vs GB in the SB, Denver 37, GB 24

Denvers WR's are unpredictable on whether or not they will catch the ball. I think it will be close between them and the chiefs. But I honestly think the chiefs will come out on top in the division. But Manning is a force not to be reckoned with.

Plus I don't think denvers offense has fully adapted to mannings no huddle strategy. They still get confused and will ruin the wrong routs/plays.

Thomas and Decker had some of the best hands in football last year. And we all know how good Welker is. After one full year with Manning under their belt, this year will be even better.

As far as the Chiefs go, they'll be better but getting Andy Reid and Alex Smith wont turn them around into a playoff team overnight.

All the chiefs needed was a QB and some help on the offensive line. We have bowe and baldwin (which I think will prove himself this year) for receiving and charles for RB. Now that we have a QB that is good we can actually utilize our passing plays. We also have Moeaki as a TE and he hands fantastic hands. Our defense is already really good. Tamba Hali, Brandon Flowers, Derrick Johnson. The chiefs weakest point is their defensive line, they can never penetrate the offensive line for a sack.

Yea I agree with all those points except for Alex Smith. Its a huge question mark whether or not he will be reliable. If you look at Alex Smith's stats since he came in the league, the only time he played well was under Harbaugh the last 2 seasons. Under coaches other than Harbaugh, he was not a solid QB by any means. He could just be one of those players that flourishes under one coach and not another. Or he could have developed into a better QB because of his playing time under Harbaugh. That is yet to be seen.

Remember, Cassel played amazing in NE when Brady got hurt. Then came to KC, didnt do well in his first year. In his second year, with Weis as the O-Coordinator, he had a fantastic year. Then after Weis left, Cassel went downhill again. So my point is, some QBs are only as good as their coaches. We'll have to see how Smith turns out.

Yeah but Weis knew Cassel's flaw was that he wasn't a consistent player and hid it well by making an awesome running offense.

Thats true but you cant deny Cassel's stats that year, 27 TDs to 5 picks. Anyways, Smith could turn out like Cassel. Maybe Harbaugh knew Smith's strengths and weaknesses and capitalized on them. I just honestly dont see Smith being the answer the Chiefs have been looking for at QB. Atleast not enough to push them into the playoffs right away anyways.

I think he will be enough. I know he isn't gonna be a pro bowler or anything though. But I think he will be good enough to get us there.

Yeah Aaron Rodgers was the back up for Brett Favre. Steve young was the back up for Montana. Tom Brady was the back up for drew Bledsoe. You see how that turned out?

I was really just correcting that chase came from the saints. So he is not technically a chiefs back up. I think we will see playing time from both it's still anybody's job. It will just depend who can can find there stroke faster

Default Re: Football talk

As with every year, I'm going to chuckle to myself when the Chiefs fail.
2 years ago was supposed to be the Chiefs fashionable return to the playoffs.
Last year they said it would be nothing but disappointment if they missed them.
What happened? Dead last.

Also not huge on the Saints hype. They are a talented team that came together for a great year, but I just don't see the same sort of energy or teamwork, especially with the Payton suspension. It just seemed to fizzle out, and I don't see them returning to the playoffs yet, the division is tough.

AFC:
1. Denver (Possibly could have been current champs, why they let a clinched game slip away we'll never know)
2. N.E. (Always contendors in a weak division, although Miami is interesting this year)
3. Indy (Luck will get into his stride this year)
4. Cincy (Solid, well balanced team)

5. Baltimore (They haven't missed the playoffs in the Harbough era, Steelers are ageing and Browns are rebuilding)
6. Houston (Too many other AFC teams rebuilding, although this spot could slip to Titans)

NFC:
1. S.F.
2. Atlanta
3. New York Giants
4. Green Bay

5. Seattle
6. Bucs

(At work, and too lazy to justify my NFC picks, lol)
