Looks like my dads sled minus the white windshield. I seem to like the polaris body styles of the 90's better than any other brand but after 2000 that all changes....thought id share that lmao
That thought was not meant to offend anyone.
I think out loud sometimes and i still dont know why…

They went away as parts of what could be salvaged, it was a long time ago. But I would probably still have them if it wern't for that.

Re: SNOWMOBILE thread!!!!
Well, I recently joined the Clean Snowmobile Competition at UMD where I'm a student. We have a new Arctic Cat ZR-7000 coming soon that we are going to make run cleaner with fewer emissions.
http://www.arctic-cat.com/snow/sled/ZR7000SP
It's gonna burn E85 and there are a lot of strict emissions criteria for it to meet. But when it's done, we get to compete with it against many other universities around the U.S. It's going to be really fun!

Thats neat! But my 1986 indy 400's 2-stoke smoke i bet would be 15x as much emissions as that 700 lol

Lol, probably! And this Cat is a 3-cyl 1050cc, I don't know why they call it a 7000... It specs out at 135hp too! But the specs are always higher, and the e85 will definitely lower it. It's going to be hard to get it running any more efficiently than it already is. Were hoping to be able to get over 20mpg with it when done though (with e85).

Re: SNOWMOBILE thread!!!!
Cats are definitely the lowest in emissions because they spend proportionately more time on the hoist while you replace belts and associated damage!

For sure! It'll be a while before we actually start working on it, but when we do, I'll definitely post photos. We have to keep careful records of every change we make anyway for our final design paper and presentation.

I guess I've never had any experience with cats, but it should be much better than my ol' 70s sleds, lol. It's also a 4-stroke, so it should be easier to modify.

Been riding since I was 5 on my little kitty cat, now riding a 2004 Polaris 800 XC with 144 studs, and my dad just got a brand new 2013 Polaris Rush 800 with 144 studs. We're huge river riders and have gone on trips to places like Deadwood SD, Cable Wisconsin, Laramie WY and the UP before. Love it!!
