Default Smoke loses main sponsor....

Well it was announced yesterday that Office Depot will not be renewing their deal with Tony Stewart which is very bad news for him. This occuring right after Smoke's infamous helmet toss at Bristol last week, I think Office Depot has pretty much had enough of Tony Stewart and his bad decision making. Tony Stewart already screwed up by getting rid of Darrien Grubb as a crew chief. Now that he is crew chief for Denny Hamlin, look at the results and how well that team is doing. Denny Hamlin got his 4th win yesterday. This isn't the first time that Tony Stewart has lost a sponsorship due to either bad decision making, or a really bad attitude. Here's the article off of Nascar's website:

http://www.nascar.com/news/120902/ts...ing/index.html

I look for Stewart's racing company to go bankrupt before long because he also lost Ryan Newman's main sponsor as well. Mobil 1 is only going to sponsor 15 races for Tony Stewart next season so he'd better clean up is attitude if he wants to continue racing.

I don't even follow auto racing, and I'm aware of Tony Stewart. Didn't UPS sponsor him at one time? Maybe coincidence, maybe not with the timing of Office Depot not renewing sponsoring because it is very expensive. I used to work for FedEx, and during one of our monthly meetings a couple years ago, workers were told that sponsorship wouldn't be renewed because of the tremendous cost. FedEx had sponsored a car, and they even had naming rights to an NFL stadium that they were going to let expire.

I don't think that UPS sponsored Tony Stewart. He was with Joe Gibbs racing driving the #20 home depot car for 10 years. Fedex still sponsors Denny Hamlin the #11 car. I drove for Fedex and yes they did let the stadium rights go because they really couldn't afford to keep them. In fact Denny Hamlin got his 4th win of the season yesterday. Plus Stewart Haas Racing also lost the U.S. Army as a sponsor for the #39 car of Ryan Newman. The cost is unreal and everyday you hear of sponsors giving up partnerships and race teams leaving because of this.

I never did like Smoke anyway. You should see the way he is around people behind the scenes when there are no tv or cameras around. I'm really surprised that someone hasn't torn him apart yet.

I just think NASCAR is a waste of goods. Its so boring. With all the worry about emissions and fuel they should put an end to it.

Thats your opinion. NASCAR brings in an extreme amount of revenue for a lot of companies. Goodyear, Sunoco and Sprint would lose a lot of advertisement if they put an end to it.

It's my opinion it sucks. It's a fact of the goods used. There is many other sporting events they could get advertisement on. Not to mention all the other racing. Formula indy motorcycle you know racing where they don't drive in a circle.

NASCAR is the number one sport for advertising. 20 ads per car and driver suit times 43 cars. Not counting the billboards on the track itself and on tv. Not a fan of indy because i dont like ricer sounding cars. And driving in a circle is a lit harder than people thing it is. The front left wheel is at such a positive camber that you have to fight it down a straightaway. And with 43 cars on the track going 160 mph+ its not as easy as people think

I hate when people say all it is is driving in a circle. I mean, technically, it is. But I would love to see you get out there and keep up with those guys. As for Stewart, I can't stand him. Dude is a straight *******. If he was in Kenseths position at Bristol, he would have blamed it on the other. Every time Tony gets wrecked its the other guys fault but when he wrecks someone, it's still their fault.

Yep and not just companies benefit either. The amount of R&D that's shared with the automakers about certain safety features and suspension components is unreal. Everything in NASCAR has to be "available to the public" or it's not allowed in Nascar period.

You're entitled to your opinion just like everyone else. But you're way off on the difficulty level involved in "going around in circles". The average time for setting up a car for a specific track would blow your mind. 1 degree here or there may not seem like much, but at 200+ mph through turn 4 at Talledega or Daytona could mean life or death for many drivers. plus Like I said earlier, do you think Goodyear doesn't pass on any info to other tire manufacturers when it comes to safety or incorp some of their knowledge that they gained from racing into their street based products? The answer is yes they do. Racing is a constant R&D project that we all benefit from in one form or another.

Exactly. He'd freak at how many hours and departments are involved at just putting one car together. It's nothing new to hear about someone putting in over 90+ hours a week just in the chassis department alone.

Exactly my friend. I couldn't have said it better myself. He'd also be surprised at how advanced the tech inspections have become and how close tolerances are. There are more regulations on a sprint cup approved car than a street car could ever come close to having. I've seen employees fined and suspended for being a 64th of an inch too thick on windsheild mods (Michael Waltrip Racing). I can't stand Tony Stewart either. I've seen him blow many of sweet deals with his nasty attitude. I look for Stewart Haas Racing to go bankrupt if they keep losing some major sponsors like they have been. Danica Patrick is the only one of his employees with a full time sponsor next year and she's overated at best. She drives for Dale Jr. in the Nationwide series, but she drives for Tony Stewart in the cup series.

Sometimes I wonder why some of them blow potentially sweet deals down the toilet like they do is. I'd put my business hat before my pride because my employees have to get paid some how besides track revenue because even though you want to win every race that you can, there wiil be some bad days at the track where you'd lose money instead of making it.

That's easy cause most are dumb rednecks, that never worked a regular job. They were just lucky enough to slide into a dull as sport.

I am so glad this has happened and I hope that no one else gives him a sponsorship. He is nothing more than a whinny little BITCH!!!!

He ought to have his man card and balls removed. All he does is bitch and throw temper tantrums like a damn 3 year old kid. Really, he needs to grow the F up!!!!!!

There are a few others like that. Its like a bunch of babies in bumper cars any more. I absolutely hate Nascar. I used to like it but after real men like Dale Sr. (R.I.P. Sir) have gone, its likes just not the same and I don't how with all the bitchin' its still raced by males. I would expect to see a bunch of PMSing women out there!!!!

About the only sport I still follow - Race wise is Latemodel Dirt Racing.

I don't even like Pro Football anymore and I have just (within the last year or so) gotten really big into baseball - got out of it because of the steroid BS - but since it seems MLB is really coming down on it and it doesn't seem to be as bad, I have started watching again.

Smoke and the Busch boys need to be tossed out of NASCAR. I followed more closely when it was the old school drivers. They had class and though they got into a altercation occasionally they were still class acts. Tony and the Busch boys are too aggressive. I did not like Dale Sr either because I always thought NASCAR turned the other cheek when he misbehaved.

I hate to see anyone go bankrupt but if i t happens to Tony I won't cry.
