New Nascar rule...
At the start of this season, Nascar has banned ALL tandem drafting. So this season you will not see 2 cars hooked together to gain an advantage over another car. Basically they're trying to make it more exciting for the fans. It will be really interesting in places like Daytona, and Talledega that's for sure.

I like the thought of what its ment to do but that rule will be changed 100 times between now and when the green flag drops at Daytona.

more regulation, taking the fun out of things. So basically what your saying is, the pusses and cry babys of nascar cried and whined so much cause a "few" guys are always winning and delcared it an unfair advantage. Kinda like class war fare and the people of the USA....! lmao

Nope they haven't changed it at all, which is weird because like you said they change alot of rules before the Daytona 500 begins.

Yep. I'd love to see those guys race someone like Cale Yarboro, Morgan Shepard, Ralph Earnhardt (dale Sr's dad) back when they were in the prime of their careers and not deeased or retired. Now that was real racing my friend. That's how it should be today imo.

They really haven't said yet, but with pricks like Kyle and Kurt Busch it could be severe or it could be just a fine. I guess it depends on "who it is" and "who owns the car".

Kyle Busch should have lost his license after that shit he pulled in the truck race last yr.
I remember the 1st time I went to a NASCAR race. Talladega 1992. Got to meet Davey Allison. Last time he went around his home track too.
I was surprised when the started to let them settle stuff on the track again.

Davey Allison was one of my heros along with Dale Sr. You couldn't meet a nicer guy on the face of this planet. Him and Dale Sr. were the best of friends and Dale Sr. took it really hard when Davey passed away. Kyle Busch gives new meaning to the term "prick" on a good day. Thanks to him, Austin Dillon became the truck champion. I would've fired Kyle Busch on the spot and banned him from Nascar. His probation is up, but still what he did was wrong and he wasn't punished enough in my book. That could've hurt or even worse, killed Ron Hornaday Jr.

I got to meet Dale Sr in 94. There was a BIG NASCAR show in Birmingham, AL when Bill Elliot got sponsored my McDonalds. Dale Sr was there too. Meet alot of drivers that day. It was great.
Tony Stewart is a azzhole too. I went to the Prelude to the Dream race once. Get was getting his ass kicked by some guy that built his car in his garage. Ol Tony was PISSED!! Told the guy he could never come back to my understanding.

How does that make it more exciting?
I used to be a huge fan and looked forward to every race.
It was my football.
But, it has gotten so watered down and sanitized over the years that it is a mear shadow of it's former self.
Pisses me off. I sure miss the good 'ol boys!
I don't even bother with it anymore.

I watched Tony Stewart blow a deal with Interstate batteries during family fun night at bristol just shortly after he became a car owner. Not a very good move when you're just starting your own racing team at all.

You misread what I posted a little bit. I didn't say it was going to be exciting. That was the reason Nascar gave. It'll be interesting to see what goes on and who gets penalized, but that right there basically screwed it all up. Nascar has some really stupid people in charge of alot different areas that shouldn't be if you get my drift.

Re: New Nascar rule...
this "banned all 2 car drafts" is not what i'm seeing,
they eliminated the "in car" driver to driver radios to help eliminate the 2 car drafts, along with some spoiler changes to make it less effective, and most of the drivers i saw interveiwed on SPEED, at the daytona testing last month, says it is helping, but still expect a 2 car draft to win at daytona

Re: New Nascar rule...
This cracks me up. Did yall read the bit about the beard bet between Earnhardt and Kenseth? HAHAHAH!!!!
Shaving costs
Matt Kenseth grew a beard during the offseason -- and it cost him.
At Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s 1970s-themed New Year's Eve party, Kenseth was sporting a Fu Manchu and mutton-chop sideburns. Earnhardt bet Kenseth he wouldn't keep the beard through this week's Preseason Thunder test sessions at Daytona.
Through a series of subsequent text messages between the drivers, the ante grew to $2,500.
"I was actually going to [keep the beard], and it looked really stupid, but I hate losing any money, and he kept upping the money and upping the money until finally I said, 'OK.' I checked first to make sure I didn't have any photos, and then I get a call saying that I had a photo shoot here and an interview there -- and anyway I guess I lost.
"Although technically this should count," Kenseth added, stroking the stubble on his chin. "It is three days old."
That's not the way Earnhardt sees it.
"He shaved his beard," Earnhardt said. "You guys can remind him. I told him to go to the bank, but maybe he forgot.
"I want my $2,500."

Lmao. $2,500 to Jr is like 1 dollar to a normal person.

BINGO! They also moved the radiator air intake thingy (can't think of what it's called) and shrunk the reservoir so the engines heat up quicker during the tandem draft.

Re: New Nascar rule...
You can still draft with a partner at Dega and Daytona. What NASCAR is trying to do is to get back to pack racing, instead of having two car tandoms through out the entire race.
Another change is that the drivers are no longer able to communicate with the rest of the field. They'll only be able to communicate with the crew chief. So dial a buddy's been put on hold.
