One of Eric McClure's drivers said it was different than that but if they're trying to cut down on the 2 car draft, you know what they'll do next though. My thoughs on Jr's bet with Kennseth are this:

Don't worry the video aint but 12 seconds. $2,500 aint nothing to Dale Jr and he's not really that good of a driver either.

I heard about that but it got really quite after a short while.

The way I look at they have changed too much. Back when Earnhardt SR. was in his prime and rubbin's racing, that is when Nascar was Nascar. Now, its just hundreds of millions of dollars and basically what amounts to a robot in the car imo.

I not saying have a demo derby but a lot of guys get screwed by some of the other guys that cheat/block and teams that work together to more or less get over on everybody else. Not to mention the whole restrictor plate deal. I understand slowing slightly for safety concerns but at the same time, really. Now that its has went fuel injection, I can't wait to see how they will cheat now. They claim the boxes will be the same so there is no un-fair advatage - yeah right!

I lost interest in NASCRAP a loooong time ago. I too used to be the overzealous fan. I grew up in front of a tv every Sunday to watch the racing... and the drama with the feuds... but in the early 2000's they decided to attract younger viewers and changed everything... to make it more "fair and even"

I thought racing was to see who could field the fastest car on the track... not just who can hire the best driver. They have made so many rules, regulations, etc that now every car is essentially exactly the same. Manufactures dont matter... its just paint and decals. Back in the real days of racing the manufactures themselves could find little advantages... now its just a name. They even make "forbidden actions" Not in the interest of "safety" but "excitement".

And regarding Kyle Busch... and his actions... Hes just doing what racers do. No different than the actions Dale Sr and others back in the day did. It was about 10 years ago I can recall a race in Bristol where Dale took out Terry Labonte on the last lap and won the race. Back then it was racing... and now its cheating?! What gives.

And the poonanny "lets be civil or face a fine" rules... those have watered down the sport to make it feel like another cheesy reality show where the drama is bitching and moaning on camera in another room. I remembered when fists and sometimes helmets flew in the direction of fellow racers... frustration boiled and it was settled... now if you curse out a fellow driver youre fined.

In short... SCREW NASCRAP... they turned this "younger viewer" off.

Dale Sr. put Labonte into the wall at Bristol because he was nearly wrecked by Labonte earlier in the race. Both of them laughed about it because they were having fun and it was "under green". Kyle Busch wrecked Ron Hornaday under a caution. There's a difference between wrecking and spinning out during a green flag run and during a caution. Nascar has become a corporate avertisment and yes they have rules for a reason. Basically what they're trying to do is keep owners like Rick Hendrick, Richard Childress, and others from "buying their way" into victory lane and give others a chance to win. It would be pretty boring seeing the same driver or team in victory lane over and over again. Alot of people have lost interest in Nascar because up until this past season, one guy has been on top for 5 strait seasons concerning the title, Jimmie Johnson. Tony Stewart winning this past season's title is indeed a breath of fresh air and JJ was pretty much dillusional at his chances of winning. At the start of the last race they interviewed him and he still swore up and down that he could become champion for this past season. I now only interested in 3 races. The Daytona 500, The first Bristol race (my home track) and the very last race.

Don't forget Martinsville. The place is like a junk yard after that one.

Pisses me off. I sure miss the good 'ol boys!

I don't even bother with it anymore.

Not to mention selective rules enforcement. When 1 team wins 5 consecutive Sprint Cup championships, something is fishy.
A big part of why Dale Sr dominated in his day was when he was getting beat on the track, Nascar would always step in with rule changes. I really think that Nascar is just made for TV entertainment.

Talking about rule changes, NASCAR changed the way the cars qualify back to a random draw fro 2013. Personally I think they should Formula 1 style knock out qualifying. What do you guys think?

Yeah I forgot about that place. The brakes heat up so much that beads on the tires pop way sooner than should and Goodyear likes to try new compounds and configurations.

Yep. I was beginning to think the same way for a good bit there.

^^Basically it's a random draw for lining up to qualify and if you don't qualify, you don't race. Michael Waltrip Racing along with a few other owners for certain teams use to fight like crazy for 35th or better in owner's points so that if they didn't qualify to good they can still race. Now they don't have that advantage. They brought back testing to balance things out.
