Default History 48

Congrats to Jimmy Johnson on 4 straight Championships! Since Rusty announced retirement, I chose the 48 crew to root for which was in his rookie year. Cant believe he did it but he made history.

Way to go 48 crew for a job, that took over 4 years, well done!

Gets old watching the same team win the Championship. 7 wins and he is the Champ? out of 32 races

Its not about the wins though... its being more consistant than everyone else... Winning is great but not when you crash out or finish worse than 20th in every race you dont win. Just ask Denny Hamlin about that. He won 5 races in the final chase but had 3 crash out DNFs. 5 wins... cool! Championship... 100% better!

These are all funny and all but please dont disrespect such a big achievement! This is something that no one has ever done before. I would never disrespect some ones achievement even if it was in a sport I dont like. Its something that you, me, your mother, brother, or anyone else besides that one person could ever do or dream of.

Yes I am a Jimmy fan but I would be posting a congrats to a driver I dont like (ex. Harvick) if he did the same thing to make history. I despise of the Red Sox and the Patriots but if they were to do something amazing, good on them.

Sorry for my ranting. Im not sure if its just me or the respect quality that I was raised on but its just not right.

well i'll give you an example of why i don't care for what any sports person makes. take jimmy johnston's second title..

NEW YORK -- Surrounded by his peers and the opulence of one of New York's most historic venues, Jimmie Johnson collected his second consecutive Nextel Cup trophy and a check for $7,317,499, the largest ever awarded in NASCAR.

why do these drivers make more than the u.s military serving in iraq ? in my option the troops serving in today's military deserve more credit and the money these sports people make for risking their life every day...
i've said enough so now i'll let this topic rest in my presence..

Holy fuck! Im am a fucking military man myself! My grandfater served in the marines, my father is still in the navy after 26 years, and i am in training to be a damn naval officer! Ask any of us or any of the guys in iraq and everywhere else... it is not about the money! Yes money is nice but at the end of the day if i get paid enough to eat every day and I am in the military doing the right thing, then i am the happiest man on this god created earth! I signed my commentment papers not so I could have a glorious life in the military. I did it so I can see the people I love and everyone else in this country do what they want... even if its a nascar driver making millions of dollars doing what he loves.

Its not about the glory, not about being a hero, and for damn sure isnt for the money. Its for the people that deserve freedom and for the strangers out there that I dont even know! I would like to not die in my service to this country but if I have to I will. You better believe I will take a bullit for the flag, my family, the guy down the street, a stranger, you, anyone on this forum, and all for wanting to do what im on this earth for.

My friend, you turned a sports congratulations into a much bigger thing. You brought this argument to a person who wears the very uniform and has a American Flag hanging in my room! All people care about is money... I am here to tell you its not just about a processed piece of cotton fiber.

Now im sorry im flipping out here but something respectful turned into a stupid situiation. And if you reccomend that I should be kicked off the forum for the f bombs the so be it. Post it here. I stand by my words just as i stand by the flag and my shipmates.

Thank You.

I agree. Gets old watching the same person win. His best race was at Texas. Namely the 3rd lap. I was really hoping Mark Martin would pull it off. Now he is a driver that deserves to win a Championship.
