That's only at Daytona and Talledega. With these new COT cars in Cup series, they are heavier and slower, I'd like to see 'em remove the plates and run E85.

Nice pics! Now we will have to wait 5 years for the Camaro to introduce a concept and another few years for them to put the damn thing out! lol

Chevy has no plans to bring the 'maro to any of the nascar series. It's been asked. Lots. lol.

The challenger was kind of a surprise. Mustang's been rumored for nascar duty for quite some time...few days after the stang intro, POW! Challenger appears. No rumors of it happening, it just happened.

Rumor in the auto world is that Chevy's gonna have a new RWD platform and is naming it the Caprice. Probably won't be new...most likely would be a variant of a Holden like the GTO or the G8.

Closest thing to REAL stock car racing is the SCCA series of racing(Koni Challenge)....mustangs, bimmers, audis...all virtually stock save for performance parts, weight elimination, and safety standards. I miss the days of there being modified off the showroom floor cars that are modded...not purpose built race cars with a sheetmetal body made to kinda look like the actual car they represent using stickers. Booo. Why is it still called 'stock car auto racing'? Little rant.../end rant. lol.

Take away the stickers, and all those cars look the same. Who cares if the put a Mustang sticker on it instead of a Taurus sticker? It doesn't make it a Mustang.

the restricter plate slows them down to a safer speed before the restricter plate went in, the cars were hitting 215-225mph and at daytona and talladega the cars were lifting off the track, also to much money with the car companies saying why does ford have more power then chev ect..

Plus we saw what happed to Dale Sr when he hit the wall at only 188 mph. Imagine 200+ and what could happen to not only the drivers but the spcetators. Its more than just who can be big and bad by handeling those speeds... its about the saftey for their lives and the lives of the spectators.

with dale sr his left lap belt was torn befor the crash and the fact that he wore an openface helmet when his head smoked the steering wheel.. if he was wearing a fullface helmet he might still be racing today.

Also...had he been wears the HANS, The Intimidater would still be out there racing in the old #3. After that race and the investigation, HANS was a requirement and it really started the design process for the COT cars. The Irwin, Petty, and Rains(?) deaths also started the real push in safety. Their deaths were remembered via the intro of more safely designed cars, safely designed tracks as well, and ultimately, making the sport safer.

John....they're getting one step closer, though a tiny step, they're getting closer to resembling their street counterparts. Take a look at my pics I posted above....the challenger has a countersunk grille area, and a hood that actually is molded similar to the factory hood.

Thats one of those thing though man, you never now and we will never know... their job is to make the sport as safe as possible for everyone despite those what ifs. It much more to it... lives cannot be put to risk by thinking that it will be okay with just a closed face helmet.

i have been watching nascar for over 15 years big jeff gordon fan.
i know what you mean with the helmet is a what if...
dale wore a open face because he could see better and he was one of the few old boys still racing when openface was all they had back then. i honestly would love to see him racing right now.

Being a Rusty fan I dislike Dale for a while due to how he crashed Rusty at Bristol the one year to win the race on the last lap. But trust me, I'd love to see him race again... he was the best hands down.
