Watching the Penguin/Lightning series, Ryan Malone hit DuPuis real hard and I couldn't figure why he didn't get a suspension. Looked similar to the Stekl/Crosby hit in the Winter Classic. Oh well. Thnx

I guess if the league deems it accidental or not a head shot, could have been a hard hit to the elbow that appears like a headshot (it happens) then he wouldnt get suspended.

Now that I reread your post, steckell wasn't suspended since it was deemed accidental

Back again. I can see where the league is going to have a real tough time cleaning up the hits to the head problem. One suggestion I heard an x-player mention is reduce the size of the shoulder pads and soften up the elbow pads. These have turned into weapons. With the league attempting to gain revenue and attract the masses they probably don't want negative publicity with "the face of the NHL" out because of questionable collisions.

Thats a valid point that I read could a be change the NHL will forsee, If it will take effect for the next season its too early to tell. It just like when the NHL will make visors mandatory after all the eye injuries lately, let me wonder whats taking so long?

The reports you hear on NHL Live and Versus talk about the "old guard" attitudes of being tough or whatever. Does QMJ require cages?

I dont really follow QMJHL honestly, I have no idea if cages are mandatory or not. I don't have NHL Live nor Versus, since where I live its an extra $30 a month, its hard being a Pens fan here since there are like only 12 games on TSN a season.

Dollars are hard to come by here also. Whoa, Pens fan, cool. You in Ottawa right? Does the owner really care about the team, the Senators seem in limbo?

I guess you're a pens fan too?, sweet! Yeah from what I can Melnyk (Sens Owner) would rather be in Bora Bora (or wherever his Getaway is) then care for the sens, He is only active just before the Playoffs (either to say changes are coming if the sens are eliminated or dont make the p/offs or that he believes the team can win the cup if they make the p/offs, other then that he works on his tan and his trap (talks too much and not enough work) thats why the sens are donig so poorly in my opinion. The fact that Bryan Murray (GM) had his job and did questionable signings (Kovalev for 5M, Gonchar for 4M, etc) questionable trades (Antoine Vermette for Pascal Leclaire, Mike fisher for 1 draft pick, etc) and questionable draft choices (the sens could have drafted Anze Kopitar, but didnt). its just a shitty team that just plays lazily (dump and chasse hockey sickens me) that I always fall asleep watching lol. Even my fiance (Sens fan since 1994) changed to being a Flyers fan this year. Everyone is fed up with the Sens lately.

Re: NHL Hockey
Ya, we got Aleckty Koebaleb, lol lol. That's what I call him. He played the same slow motion east-west swoopy momentum breaking style the first time he was in Pittsburgh. What is it with the Flyers and the soap opera goalie thing? Bobrovsky carries them through the season and they start Leighton in the playoffs only to pull him from a game and insert Boucher. Holy mackerel Hahaha.

Gotta love salary cap, the flyers have their money invest in balanced fwds and Def, but not in goaltending, our money is in the big 4 (Crosby, geno, Staal and Flower and our D). I would like to see Geno traded for Rick Nash, I think it would balance things out for the pens

Ya, my sons and I have been ranting for years like everyone else that the big dollars down the middle limits you when they aren't there, like this year, or do not produce, like Geno for a couple years. We have Neal as a legit winger now. Columbus would never part with Nash though, you think?
Got to go. God bless you all.

They have pretty good wingers but not first line center (Vermette's a good 2nd line center) So I think they would need a Center like geno, esp on the PP. Neal is a great acquisation, I would have
Neal Crosby Nash
Kunitz Staal Kennedy
Dupuis Letestu Talbot
as our top lines, I think it delivers players who play with heart, minds and body as well. plus there is more depth incase one of our guys are injured.

Hey Crowd, I love it man! Crosby, Neal and Nash sounds like a music group lol lol. Talk about all your eggs in one basket though, seriously. Maybe Staal is a 2nd line center, I don't know. He hasn't shown much against better skilled defense-men he would see there. I think someone like Pierre (I like him) DuPuis with Crosby and Neal. It was so sweet to watch a Pens winger, Neal, throw pucks at the net from anywhere in the zone and consistently hit it. Salary cap issues makes a $9million 2nd line center kind of expensive. Detroit doesn't pay their goalies anything so they can spread the dollars where it can do some good.
