The Verlander last out of the missed Perfect Game fiasco was blown. That had to be more than human error when by 6-8 feet he clearly had the ball to the first baseman, and replay wouldn't have helped. MLB, unlike the NFL wants little replay, such as homes run only.
I think an nba team has 12 players dress. They dressed 8 because they want to lose. I never saw the verlader game. I will check it out. The Jim joyce call was human error. Replay would have solved that call.

That near Perfect Game pitched by Verlander won him a Corvette. I don't know if because of the outcry or if GM was going to donate it anyway. I think the next day it was given to him. Totally a stand-up guy the way he handled the situation. I know mistakes happen, but last play of the game? It was like it was fixed, and I hate saying that. Umpires can converge and overturn a call w/o a manager protest, I believe. I didn't like how the game ended.

I think the game you are talking about was not Verlander it was the Galaraga? game I mentioned. The up was Jim Joyce. IMO that was human error. Replay would have solved that.

I was sure that it was the Verlander game, but if not, it only changes the player involved and not the fact that an obvious call was blown. Baseball replays would have to be limited, like challenges in the NFL, and IMO is one reason MLB is so hesitant.

He might not admit it but i know Jim Joyce wishes they had replay that day. The other umps could have jumped in the way they did in this years world series when an UMP called a red Sox player out at 2nd and the other umps over ruled him.

It was a regulation game, and baseball is way too long a season. The average MLB game is over 2.5 hours. Also, it would take something away from the game. I feel that MLB is being cautious because it would take away from America's past-time if they had to rely on replay. Also, how would they implement it? Like the NFL, and one challenge per game, and what situations? Sad that another ump could have down an appeal and didn't. Like any job, look the other way because next time it could have been them. Either way, Top Ten horrible call of all time, and he was right there. Ray Charles should have accurately made the call.

I don't really care about baseball and in the American league east I bet the games average a lot longer then 2.5 hours. A lot of them are close to 4 hours. Boring...........I probably could solve the replay issue in a reasonable amount of time if I cared, but i don't. I do have one simple idea that would take 1 minute to implement and I doubt anyone would mind it. How about if the last out of the game was an obvious dumb call they use instant replay. I am sure most people that stayed to watched or are watching it on TV would not mind the time that it takes.

IMO. this entire discussion of" it will take something away from the game" is beyond silly. The idea is to get the calls correct using a reasonable amount of effort and assets available. if you ignore replay you are living in the past.

Yeah, I'm thinking that MLB games last longer than 2.5 hours myself. I do think that baseball is overplayed as it is. Oh, let's see again the previous strike. However, it is important in any sport to get the call correct.

You can't replay pitches. No way that would work. All they have to do is have a replay official in a booth and if there is a close call they can call down. There is only a handful of calls that get missed. It wouldn't be that much and a 5 second replay confirms it.

The only way to speed up the game would be to increase the strike zone. Make them swing instead of ball 1, strike 1, ball 2, ball 3, strike 2, foul ball, foul ball, fly out. Hopefully get the pitch numbers down.

Not really sure if you caught my sarcasm, but pitches are replayed in between pitches. Replays and plays for review are two totally different things. The idea of replay review is to get a correct call. MLB is criticized enough for being a slow game, and baseball is considering replay review only to determine home runs, so basically a very limited use, which partly defeats the purpose IMO because the technology is there. I feel that implemented correctly, replay review can work well. I don't have an alternative plan, and my concern is how could replay review best be implimented and how? Would a flag be used like in football to signify a manager protest? How many reviewable replays per game would exist? MLB execs are talking about having a reviewable play done in New York in the studio, or something wacky like that. I like how football reviews are handled with the refs huddling and having one guy look at the play. From what I've seen, and IMO, MLB is not doing what is in the best interest of fans rather what is in the league's best interest. Let the fans that pay the salary and support the teams decide.

When I said replay pitches I meant review pitches. You can't review or challenge pitches. I think you can have an automatic review of each play at the bases and homeruns like college football. If the replay official sees something then he stops play and they review it.
