Default Any one know about vintage bmx bikes??

Okay. I wasn't really sure where to put this. But this category suits it pretty we'll I think. My question is does anyone on here know anything about vintage bmx bikes? I just tonight picked up a bike from the garbage. It caught my eye on the way home from work. And looking more at it, it's a redline. I'm guessing from 80s? It's says mcs chromoly on the front where the forks go through the frame and also on the seat post tube. It has shorty bar forged mount with p3 racing bars, araya blue wheels with blue hubs, mx brakes with mx diacompe lever. It's in good shape. It's full chrome. I polished it and it came out great. Shiny af. It's got a little rust but it's surface. It's a sweet bike I think it's a dirt track bike but not sure I'm looking to see if anyone might know more about it? I have my dads old 80s powerlite bike. I'm gonna restore it sometime. But this bike is pretty cool. Gonna post a couple pics of it.

On the crank tube it's stamped "6168" that's it. So far I haven't seen anything stamped redline or anything. It has the 600a style fork decals but all the pics I have seen don't have the frame support between the 2 tubes where they connect at the front fork tube. It's an awesome bike just confused

Okay, we'll it's not a redline. It's a 1978 or 79 mcs spider. The forks may be redline forks but not sure. It has a lot of different parts on it. Might take it to the local bike shop and ask them about it.

That's a cool bike. I'm looking for an 85 Mongoose Californian , I want to build a RAD Cru Jones replica.

It does need some work. But Its sweet that it's from the 70s it's either a 78 or 79. Only way to tell is to check the vin but I'm not sure how. Gotta see if I can get ahold of mcs and see if they have records or something. It needs to be replated in a few spots and the tires actually hold air. I need to find a seat cause whoever had it cut it up to make some weird seat and man it was terrible looking. Gotta find some new pads for brakes. I plan on cleaning it up the best I can and riding it.

That looks to be a old Mongoose frame. I had a 84 Cali. Mongoose that i traded for a stand up jetski.

This is a 79 mcs spider look at the front of the frame where the tubes meet it has the support with the single hole in it. Mine also has that same exact. And where the rear wheel bolts to the frame looks exactly the same.

I didn't know bikes had a VIN. I had a black BMX bike in the 80's that is still sitting at my mom's house. Maybe I'll take a picture for shit-n-giggles.

Yeah the vin are normally on the crank case on the bottom side. I have a 2007 redline link 1.1 black and purple. I love it and my brother has a 2011 redline recon blue with white bars and forks. Original tires on his still with the knobbys he doesn't touch it.

Is there anywhere to check the vin? And ill post some pics of mine and brothers redlines and my dads old powerlite. The powerlite is gonna get completely restored. I used to ride an old schwinn a few years back. When I actually rode. I could bunny hop a garbage can from flatland. It was super light. But I stopped and now can't do anything. Gonna start riding again.

Vintage bikes can be worth a lot depending on condition and what bike it is.

My link 1.1. Both have the Alex y303 wheels and hubs. I bought my link back in 2011 and it was brand new. I bought it for $325 from a local bike shop. Just loved the colors. I wanted the 8.1 but wasn't gonna spend $800 lol
